    Obituary for Jack Benny Collins Sr. Jack Benny Collins, Sr. of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Jack spent 10 years serving in the National Guard in Maryland and Illinois. He was a retired over the road truck driver and instructor, known by his CB handle as, “Smiling Jack.” He also worked as an EMT for Jonesville, Pennington Gap and St. Charles Rescue Squad. Jack was a family man and was an excellent husband, father and papaw. He helped numerous people in his community and was loved by many. Jack loved Bluegrass music and a good laugh. He loved attending the Message of Truth and Grace Fellowship Churches. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mossie Ridings Collins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lydia Collins; two daughters, Theresa G. Collins Clark and Nicole Bowles (James); one son, Jack Collins, Jr. (Nichole); one sister, Wilma Joyce Leonard (Raven); two brothers, Robert Collins (Janet) and Curtis Collins; eight grandchildren, Jared Collins and fiancé, Samantha Stallard, Hillary Collins, Dalton Clark, Tate Bowles, Taylor Bowles, Kayden Collins, Sidney Collins and Olivia Bowles; and one great grandchild, Kaysen Ryan Collins. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Homer Blanken and Rev. John Osteen officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Woodward Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 to travel in procession to the cemetery.

    JONESVILLE, Va. Mossie Collins, 81, passed away Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at Lee County Community Hospital in Pennington Gap, Va.

    A resident of Lee County, Va. for most of her life, she was a member of McConnells Chapel Baptist Church.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Collins; her parents, Jack and Mittie Ridings; four brothers, Chester, Junior, Carl and Clayton Ridings; and two sisters, Grace Clappsaddle and Opal Ramsey.

    Surviving are three sons, Robert Dale Collins Sr., Virginia Beach, Va., Jack Benny Collins Sr., and Curtis Claude Collins, both of Jonesville, Va.; one daughter, Francis Wilma Joyce Collins, Jonesville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Eula Gray Partin, Virginia Beach, Va.

    Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Jonesville, Va.

    Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Homer Blanton and the Rev. Chuck Robinson officiating.

    Burial will be in the Woodard Cemetery, Jonesville, Va.

    Rev. Marshall R. Gulley, 69, of the 3500 block of Silina Drive, died July 27, 1993, in Virginia Beach.

    The Rev. Mr. Gulley was born in Clairborne County, Tenn., and was employed as a supervisor with Chicago Transit Authority. He attended Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church and was a retired Navy veteran of World War II with 20 years of service.

    Survivors include his wife, Alice B. Gulley; two daughters, Lydia Collins of Jonesville, Va., and Donna Garling of Virginia Beach; two sons, Gordon Gulley and Barry Gulley, both of Chicago; one sister, Delsia Ridings of Arthur, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, by Pastor Ronald Lee. Entombment, with military honors, will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

    The family asks that memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
