Sally Mae Newman, of 5448 Hargrove Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA, passed away at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital on May 9, 2011. She was born in Jonesville, VA on April 30, 1938. Sally was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Wiseman of Blountville, TN; father, Charles Garrett of Rose Hill, VA; and one granddaughter, Callie Newman of Virginia Beach, VA. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Newman; stepfather, John Wiseman of Blountville, TN; one daughter, Kimberly (and Herb) Blaylock of Elizabethtown, PA; two sons, Robert Jr (and Terri) Newman, Edward (and Carla) Newman, both of Virginia Beach, VA; six granddaughters of Virginia Beach, VA; a grandson of Florida; two great grandchildren in Virginia Beach, VA; a sister-in-law, Shirley George of Suffolk, VA; a nephew; and a great niece. Sally was retired from the Virginia Beach School System. No local services will be available. Donations can be sent to the Memorial United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, VA
