    ALVIN F. SAVITSKI Gary, Indiana Age 85 passed Tuesday, March 13, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Maize; five step children: Patricia (William) Curtis of Griffith, Theresa (Byron) Wilson of Schererville, Debra (Michael) Lowery of Knoxville, TN, Natalie (Bltazar) Vieyra of Griffith, Daniel (Tiffany) LaTurno of Aurora, IL;
    13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren;
    two brothers: James and Floyd; two sisters: Virginia and Gloria.
    Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Edith, his first wife, Doris (Nee Walczak),
    one daughter, Sharon Pomeroy, one great granddaughter, Michelle Pomeroy, brothers, Clifford and Majil, one sister, Genevieve Maki.
    Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2007; 11:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.) Highland, IN. Rev. Alfred Dettmer officiating.
    Burial Catholic Cemeteries.
    Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 18, 2007 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Savitski was born on July 23, 1921 in Marquette, MI.
    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II primarily as a radio operator. He served from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater aboard a Navy Destroyer, the USS Izard. He was employed by Inland Steel for nearly 44 years where he worked primarily in the Tin Mill.
    He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.
