William C.Payne, 76, Loda died at Mount Sinai hospital in Chicago at 4:30 am Tuesday. He had been in ill health for some time and hospitalized 10 days. He was brought to the Lamb funeral home and will be taken to the First Christian church in Gibson City at noon Friday for his funeral at 2 pm. The Rev Vernon McDormand will officiate and burial will be in Gibson City cemetery.
Mr. Payne was born at Vanceburg, Ky, Feb. 21, 1888 a son of W.C. and Hester Arthur Payne. He married Laura Kegley, March 5, 1908 at Vanceburg. They farmed near Sibley 30 years and had lived near Loda eight years.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Gierman, 818 E.Lincoln St. Bloomington, Mrs. Hester Donner,Decatur, a son Harry, Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Warren, Maysville, Ky, Mrs. Ethel Meyers, Glen Springs, Ky, a brother John, Portsmouth, Ohio, Six grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Gibson City First Christian church.
