"Again has the death angels visited this community, and called away Mr. James C. Hunt. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hunt, and was born August 20, 1848, and married Polly R. Riding Nov. 2, 1871. She preceded him to the grave about three years ago. "Uncle Jimmie", as he was always called, had been blind for several years. He became ill some time ago and was heart-broken over the death of his companion. His friends and relatives watched at his bedside, still hoping he might recover, but at last the sad hour came and he departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 12 12 o'clock. Mr Hunt was a loyal friend and will be missed in the community in which he lived. After the death of his wife he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Smiley. "Uncle Jimmie" was a Christian man. He joined the Rock Lick church in early manhood and he was always ready and willing to do his part in the church as long as he was able to attend. He lived to be 82 years, 2 months, and 16 days old. He is survived by two sisters and Mr. Jasper Smiley whom he raised from a little lad, also a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held Thursday at the Rock Lick church, conducted by Rev. H.J. Ridner and Rev. Wesley Colyer. Interment was in the Rock Lick Cemetery. -- Contributed by a friend."
