2951	Jewell R. Ridings, 95, of Fellowship House died at 4 30 p m. Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the oldest member of First Christian Church and a carpenter retired from Edmiston Bro. Lumber Co. Born in Somerset on July 21, 1886, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary Ellis Ridings. Survivors include a brother, James Ridings of Corbin; a sister, Elva McGee of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at 10 a m Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home with Dr. William H. Hammonds officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alvis H. Caldwell, John C. Davis, Laurence McGhee, Terry Griffin, Ernest Speckman and Roy Edmiston. 2953	Jo Ann Williams Cartmill, age 75, of Brookston, Texas, passed away on April 28, 2017 in McKinney, Texas. She was born on June 11, 1941 in Lee County, Virginia to Carl Elmer and Iva Moore Williams. She married Gerald Cartmill on June 8, 1979 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Jo Ann worked for the Postal Service for 25 years in the cities of Farmersville, Princeton and Paris, Texas. She was of the Methodist Faith. Jo Ann is survived by; husband, Gerald Cartmill of Brookston, Texas; son, Bailey Mercer and wife Judy of Desert, Texas; daughter, Delinda Williams of Farmersville, Texas; son, Garrett Cartmill of Farmersville, Texas; grandchildren, Ashle Mercer, Hailey Mercer, Bailey Kyle Mercer, Cade Williams and Morgan Cartmill; sister, Wanda Pratt of Jonesboro, Indiana and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. 2954	Joey Bennett age, 79, of Connersville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning May 10, 2015 at Hickory Creek of Connersville, where he had been a patient for a approximately five months. Born in Arjay, Kentucky on July 7, 1935, he is the son of the late Theo and Renie Miracle Bennett. He was a member of the Woodland Bible Church where he was very active in church activities and had served on the Connersville Community Bible Missionary and Woodland Bible Church Board for over 30 years. He was a licensed Lay Pastor through the Woodland Bible Church for over 22 years ministering to the jail inmates at the Fayette County Jail. Joe retired in 1993 from Ford Electronics and Refrigeration after 40 years of service. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorlieta Strait, whom he married on July 23, 1960 in Liberty; two daughters, Lisa Miller and husband J.D. of Connersville and Amy Bennett at home; two sons, Randy Bennett and wife Shawny of Connersville and Mark Bennett and wife Nancy of Connersville; a brother, Earl Bennett and wife Patty of Connersville; seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Caitlin, and Kelly Bennett, Matthew and Alisha Bennett, and Zachary and Ty Miller; two great granddaughters, Rylie Gaddis and Emma Richardson as well as several very close nieces and nephews. 2955	John Aaron lived in Pocket along the North Fork of the Powell River. His house was on the opposite side of the river from the road and there was no bridge. This river is not really deep or wide in all places but to keep from having to wade it all the time, they used a small boat to get to the house. 2956	John Edwin Atkins, age 79, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born November 12, 1928 to the late George W. and Mary Repass Atkins. He was a member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church where he served in several capacities. Mr. Atkins was an Engineer with Brunswick Defense Plant for over 30 years. He was a farmer in the Atkins Community and was the owner of Atkins Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Hall Atkins. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Buster Russell of Atkins, Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Rennie Atkins of Abingdon, Virginia, and Ben and Judy Atkins of Atkins, Virginia; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Doris and husband, Hugh Copenhaver of Atkins, Virginia and Charlie Bill Hall of Florida; one sister-in-law, Frances Hudson of Glen Burnie, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Lisa Maloyed, Ben Atkins, Sarah Smallwood, Jonathan Atkins, Joshua Atkins, Jordan Atkins and Katilyn Atkins; several nieces and nephews also survive. 2958	John M. Yonts, 86, of Rushford, MN died on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. John Mason Yonts was born on August 13, 1933, in Groseclose in Smyth County Virginia to William Grady and Ora Mabel (Lindamood) Yonts. He was raised at Groseclose, Virginia in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. John attended high school in Marion, Virginia. He entered the U.S. Air Force where he served most of his time in Waverly, Iowa. On June 21, 1952, John was united in marriage with Ethel Miles at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, John and Ethel remained in Waverly. In 1957, they moved to a farm at Highland Prairie, south of Rushford. John got his auctioneering license during this time. In 1968, he decided to follow his experience cooking in supper clubs and purchased Niggle's Café, renaming it Johnny's Café and moving to Rushford. After several years of running the café, John started his own trucking business with his sons. He worked as a trucker until age 84 and was proud to say he never had an accident in over 40 years. He continued to cater local picnics, graduations and weddings with his famous beef and pork. He also cooked at Montini Hall in Rushford for many days, serving all of the people of Rushford affected by the flood of 2007. Community was important to John; as a member of the Lion's Club, charter member of Rushford Area Business Association (RABA), and a charter member of Fillmore County NFO. He was elected to the Rushford city council in 1979 and mayor from 1985 to 1993. During his time, the Economic Development Authority (EDA) was formed and the Rushford Community Park was completed with the playground. He was so proud of all the progress Rushford made during this time to ensure a viable future for the city. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; children: Jim (Kathy) Yonts, Mary (Larry) Bergin, Edward (Beth) Yonts, and Carol (Tom) Meyer, daughter-in-law Linda (Dave) Hundorf; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Nancy (David) Hilton of Kingman, AZ, Margaret (Kenneth, Sr.) Sledd of Marion, VA, and Mary (Paul) Snavely of rural Retreat, VA, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless good and faithful friends. John was preceded in death by his son William, a brother James, and sisters, Ruby Nell and Janet Louise. There will be a graveside service at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, with the Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. 2961	John T. Ridings III, age 82, of Huber Heights, passed away on May 31, 2022. He was born on April 9, 1940 to the late Norma and John T. Ridings II. He served his country as part of the Army Security Agency. He retired from General Motors Delphi after 28 years of service. He enjoyed playing his guitar and taking care of his yard. He loved spending time with his family and having long conversations with his friends. He was often followed by his shadow and faithful companion, his dog Sadee. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Ridings. His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 32 years, Cindy Ridings; his daughters, Mary Ridings and Kathryn (Paul) Pease; step-children, Melissa Dodge and Brandon (Shannon) Dodge; grandchildren: Ryan, Abbie, and Allie; his sister, Barbara Gray; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 2962	John Woodard Robert, Sr., 89, left this mortal world to join the love of his life and bride, Eva, in Eternal Heaven. He was predeceased by his parents, J. Bowen and Emma J. (Thompson) Roberts; and twin great-grandsons, Matthew and Michael Roberts. Mr. Roberts is survived by three children and spouses. John W., Jr. and Carolyn, Arlington, Tex., Jeremy L. and Lucille, Binghamton, N.Y., and Sandra G. and Rev. Keith Hudson, Villanova, Pa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. John was born in VanBuren, Ark., and during the Depression years, he ventured to N.Y. with his young family in search of better job opportunities. He became one of the original employees of Link Aviation and during World War II supervised the radio department. He retired from Link's in 1971 to devote his time to his love of beekeeping and developing his honey sales business. With the assistance of his wife, Eva, they distributed honey to many stores throughout the N.Y. and Pa. area. She was a member of Thompson Settlement Baptist Church in Jonesville, Va. As a resident of Lee County, Va., most of her life, she and her husband, George operated a country store in the Thompson Settlement Community for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Hopkins; her parents, Cam and Emma Newman; three brothers, Chris, Oatie, and Barlow Newman; and two sisters, Molly Sewell and Byrd Warner. 2970	JOSHUA WAYNE RIDINGS 01 Sep 1989 - 25 Apr 2010 Joshua Wayne Ridings,20, of Dryden,Va., went home to be with the Lord Sunday (April 25, 2010) in Kingsport following injuries received in an auto accident. Josh was born Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1989, in Thomaston, Ga. He was a loving and giving son, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, grandson, nephew and friend. Josh touched the life of every person who knewhim. With his death he was able to give eight strangers a new chance of life through his organ donation. He was a true hero in life and in death, to his parents, family and friends. Josh was a graduate of Powell Valley High School class of 2007. Josh was employed by Sykes in Wise, Va., as a members service representative. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Odie Ridings; paternal grandmother, Maude Ridings; maternal grandfather, Brownie Lipps, and maternal grandmother, Lucille Lipps. She was born in Richmond an was a 1979 graduate of Richmond High School. She lived in New Madison, Ohio before moving to Parker City eight years ago. She was assistant loan officer for Avondale Federal Credit Union. Survivors include her husband of 14 years, De Wayne Taylor, one son, Michael, at home: a daughter, Casey Taylor, at home: her mother Helen Covington of Richmond: her father and step-mother, Lee and Ruby Covington of Richmond; two brothers, Harold "Dwuane: Covington of Richmond and Bob Covington of Centerville; one sister, Denise Phenis of Richmond; nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. 2972	Joyce D. Ridings Jones, age 79, of Somerset, departed this life on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Joyce was born on January 30, 1935, to the late James and Patsy Ridings. Joyce married William Ray “Buddy” Jones on August 2, 1971. She loved working on their dairy farm. She was a retired farmer and homemaker. She loved her animals. Joyce will be missed by so many that knew her. She loved all of her CNA’s at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Joyce never met a stranger and had a way of making every one smile she came in contact with, no matter what kind of day they were having. She is survived by her sons, Bobby Ray Ridings, of Boaz, Alabama, and Steven Ray Warren, of Springfield, Illinois; her daughter, Peggy Jo Warren, of Springfield, Illinois; two sisters, Barbara Sneed, of Bardstown and Helen (and Dee) Haste, of Bardstown; special nieces, Shirley (and David) Hughes and Rita (and Rick) Gilreath; a special nephew, Gary (and Lynn) Grimsley and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that will mourn her passing. Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, William “Buddy” Jones, who passed away March 18, 1999; her sisters, Peggy Jo Hughes, Mary Katherine Brent, Ella Mae Grimsley, and Betty Jean Cox; her brother, James Edward Ridings; and a special niece, Patsy Wesley. 2973	Juanita Marie "Judy" Keith, 60, of Eaton, formerly of the Cedar Circle Residents Home, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Greenbriar Nursing Center following an extended illness. She had lived in Eaton for nearly 25 years, had worked at L&M Products for 20 years, and attended the Senior Group at the Eaton Church of God. She was born Feb. 22, 1876 and was a daughter of Joseph and Patience Sasser Tuttle. she had been in ill health a number of years and became critically ill about a month ago at her home on Route 1 and was removed to the Smith Hospital by the Kincaid Funeral home where she partically recovered and was removed to her daughter's home. She was married to Mr. Thomas Hale, son of the late Dr. J.T. Hale, Bef. 23, 1893 at Bush who together with five daughters, Mrs. W.H. Greene, London; Mrs. J.R. Wilkerson and mrs. V.L. Clark, Corbin, Mrs. T.J. Greene, Gadsden, AL; and mrs. Roy perry, Whitley City and a son, Ray Hale of London, survive her, four sons and a daugther having preceded her in death. 2980	Junior Earl Ridings, 84, beloved friend to Russell Boggs, passed away peacefully, at Roo Lan Health Care in Lacey, WA. He was better known as ‘Earl’ to his friends. He was born May 14, 1936, in Fork Ridge, Tennessee, to Eugene and Hazel Ridings. While attending Rainier School in Buckley, Wash for quite some time, he began to work at a nursing home owned by Russell’s grandfather in Kent, WA. As time went on, the nursing home was sold by grandpa and Earl had become part of the family. Grandpa and Earl relocated to Onalaska, WA where, from bare ground, a farm was started. Earl worked by grandpa’s side on the farm. He enjoyed all aspects of farm life-taking care of the animals, haying (even in 90 degree weather) and the comradery of talking to other farmers that would stop by to visit. Junior also enjoyed riding his bicycle and going to church. Earl was the last of the “Dun Roamin' Ranch” era. He was the oldest member of First Christian Church and a carpenter retired from Edmiston Bro. Lumber Co. Born in Somerset on July 21, 1886, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary Ellis Ridings. Jo Ann worked for the Postal Service for 25 years in the cities of Farmersville, Princeton and Paris, Texas. She was of the Methodist Faith.

Joey Bennett age, 79, of Connersville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning May 10, 2015 at Hickory Creek of Connersville, where he had been a patient for a approximately five months.

Born in Arjay, Kentucky on July 7, 1935, he is the son of the late Theo and Renie Miracle Bennett.

He was a member of the Woodland Bible Church where he was very active in church activities and had served on the Connersville Community Bible Missionary and Woodland Bible Church Board for over 30 years. He was a licensed Lay Pastor through the Woodland Bible Church for over 22 years ministering to the jail inmates at the Fayette County Jail.

Joe retired in 1993 from Ford Electronics and Refrigeration after 40 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, the former Dorlieta Strait, whom he married on July 23, 1960 in Liberty; two daughters, Lisa Miller and husband J.D. of Connersville and Amy Bennett at home; two sons, Randy Bennett and wife Shawny of Connersville and Mark Bennett and wife Nancy of Connersville; a brother, Earl Bennett and wife Patty of Connersville; seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Caitlin, and Kelly Bennett, Matthew and Alisha Bennett, and Zachary and Ty Miller; two great granddaughters, Rylie Gaddis and Emma Richardson as well as several very close nieces and nephews.

John Aaron lived in Pocket along the North Fork of the Powell River. His house was on the opposite side of the river from the road and there was no bridge. This river is not really deep or wide in all places but to keep from having to wade it all the time, they used a small boat to get to the house. John was well known for growing watermelons , especially yellow watermelons which were unheard of in that area.

John Edwin Atkins, age 79, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born November 12, 1928 to the late George W. and Mary Repass Atkins. He was a member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church where he served in several capacities. Mr. Atkins was an Engineer with Brunswick Defense Plant for over 30 years. He was a farmer in the Atkins Community and was the owner of Atkins Construction Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Hall Atkins.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Buster Russell of Atkins, Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Rennie Atkins of Abingdon, Virginia, and Ben and Judy Atkins of Atkins, Virginia; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Doris and husband, Hugh Copenhaver of Atkins, Virginia and Charlie Bill Hall of Florida; one sister-in-law, Frances Hudson of Glen Burnie, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Lisa Maloyed, Ben Atkins, Sarah Smallwood, Jonathan Atkins, Joshua Atkins, Jordan Atkins and Katilyn Atkins; several nieces and nephews also survive.

John M. Yonts, 86, of Rushford, MN died on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
John Mason Yonts was born on August 13, 1933, in Groseclose in Smyth County Virginia to William Grady and Ora Mabel (Lindamood) Yonts. He was raised at Groseclose, Virginia in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. John attended high school in Marion, Virginia. He entered the U.S. Air Force where he served most of his time in Waverly, Iowa. On June 21, 1952, John was united in marriage with Ethel Miles at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, John and Ethel remained in Waverly. In 1957, they moved to a farm at Highland Prairie, south of Rushford. John got his auctioneering license during this time. In 1968, he decided to follow his experience cooking in supper clubs and purchased Niggle's Café, renaming it Johnny's Café and moving to Rushford. After several years of running the café, John started his own trucking business with his sons. He worked as a trucker until age 84 and was proud to say he never had an accident in over 40 years. He continued to cater local picnics, graduations and weddings with his famous beef and pork. He also cooked at Montini Hall in Rushford for many days, serving all of the people of Rushford affected by the flood of 2007. Community was important to John; as a member of the Lion's Club, charter member of Rushford Area Business Association (RABA), and a charter member of Fillmore County NFO. He was elected to the Rushford city council in 1979 and mayor from 1985 to 1993. During his time, the Economic Development Authority (EDA) was formed and the Rushford Community Park was completed with the playground. He was so proud of all the progress Rushford made during this time to ensure a viable future for the city.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; children: Jim (Kathy) Yonts, Mary (Larry) Bergin, Edward (Beth) Yonts, and Carol (Tom) Meyer, daughter-in-law Linda (Dave) Hundorf; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Nancy (David) Hilton of Kingman, AZ, Margaret (Kenneth, Sr.) Sledd of Marion, VA, and Mary (Paul) Snavely of rural Retreat, VA, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless good and faithful friends.
John was preceded in death by his son William, a brother James, and sisters, Ruby Nell and Janet Louise.
There will be a graveside service at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, with the Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. There will be a drive-thru visitation on Saturday, following the graveside service at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

John T. Ridings III, age 82, of Huber Heights, passed away on May 31, 2022. He was born on April 9, 1940 to the late Norma and John T. Ridings II. He served his country as part of the Army Security Agency. He retired from General Motors Delphi after 28 years of service. He enjoyed playing his guitar and taking care of his yard. He loved spending time with his family and having long conversations with his friends. He was often followed by his shadow and faithful companion, his dog Sadee. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Ridings. John Woodard Robert, Sr., 89, left this mortal world to join the love of his life and bride, Eva, in Eternal Heaven. He was predeceased by his parents, J. Bowen and Emma J. (Thompson) Roberts; and twin great-grandsons, Matthew and Michael Roberts. Mr. Roberts is survived by three children and spouses. John W., Jr. and Carolyn, Arlington, Tex., Jeremy L. and Lucille, Binghamton, N.Y., and Sandra G. and Rev. Keith Hudson, Villanova, Pa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. John was born in VanBuren, Ark., and during the Depression years, he ventured to N.Y. with his young family in search of better job opportunities. He became one of the original employees of Link Aviation and during World War II supervised the radio department. He retired from Link's in 1971 to devote his time to his love of beekeeping and developing his honey sales business. With the assistance of his wife, Eva, they distributed honey to many stores throughout the N.Y. and Pa. area.

Joshua Wayne Ridings,20, of Dryden,Va., went home to be with the Lord Sunday (April 25, 2010) in Kingsport following injuries received in an auto accident.

Josh was born Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1989, in Thomaston, Ga. He was a loving and giving son, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, grandson, nephew and friend. Josh touched the life of every person who knewhim.

With his death he was able to give eight strangers a new chance of life through his organ donation. He was a true hero in life and
in death, to his parents, family and friends.

Josh was a graduate of Powell Valley High School class of 2007. Josh was employed by Sykes in Wise, Va., as a members service representative.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Odie Ridings; paternal grandmother, Maude Ridings; maternal grandfather, Brownie Lipps, and maternal grandmother, Lucille Lipps.

Joyce D. Ridings Jones, age 79, of Somerset, departed this life on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Joyce was born on January 30, 1935, to the late James and Patsy Ridings. Joyce married William Ray “Buddy” Jones on August 2, 1971. She loved working on their dairy farm. She was a retired farmer and homemaker. She loved her animals. Joyce will be missed by so many that knew her. She loved all of her CNA’s at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Joyce never met a stranger and had a way of making every one smile she came in contact with, no matter what kind of day they were having.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Ray Ridings, of Boaz, Alabama, and Steven Ray Warren, of Springfield, Illinois; her daughter, Peggy Jo Warren, of Springfield, Illinois; two sisters, Barbara Sneed, of Bardstown and Helen (and Dee) Haste, of Bardstown; special nieces, Shirley (and David) Hughes and Rita (and Rick) Gilreath; a special nephew, Gary (and Lynn) Grimsley and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that will mourn her passing.

Juanita Marie "Judy" Keith, 60, of Eaton, formerly of the Cedar Circle Residents Home, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Greenbriar Nursing Center following an extended illness.

She had lived in Eaton for nearly 25 years, had worked at L&M Products for 20 years, and attended the Senior Group at the Eaton Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Keith; and a sister, Sandra Keith.

Survivors include her mother, Christine Keith; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Paul Marburger of Brookville; nieces Tammy (Russ) Duffie of Brookville and Paula (Mark) Elliott of West Milton; a nephew, Todd (Kim) Marburger of Brookville; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives.

Judy Lynn Ridings age 60 was born in Lee County, Virginia on June 6, 1954. She passed away on August 18, 2014 at 2:30 pm at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Judy had been a resident of Lee County, Virginia for the past 40 years and a long term employee of the former Lee Regional Medical Center.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jean (Mullins) and Bernard Rupert Grable of Loyall, Kentucky.

Judy is survived by her husband, Danny Ray Ridings of Dot, Virginia, two daughters, Misty Ridings-Algier and husband, Jason of Kingsport, Tennessee and Bridgett Ridings of Lexington, Kentucky, one son, Damon Ridings and wife, Jamie of Woodway, Virginia. Judy was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Cuie Tuttle Hale died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. V.L. Clark, in Corbin, July 9, 1946 following a heart attack. She was born Feb. 22, 1876 and was a daughter of Joseph and Patience Sasser Tuttle. she had been in ill health a number of years and became critically ill about a month ago at her home on Route 1 and was removed to the Smith Hospital by the Kincaid Funeral home where she partically recovered and was removed to her daughter's home. She was married to Mr. Thomas Hale, son of the late Dr. J.T. Hale, Bef. 23, 1893 at Bush who together with five daughters, Mrs. W.H. Greene, London; Mrs. J.R. Wilkerson and mrs. V.L. Clark, Corbin, Mrs. T.J. Greene, Gadsden, AL; and mrs. Roy perry, Whitley City and a son, Ray Hale of London, survive her, four sons and a daugther having preceded her in death. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. S.W. Asher, Lexington; Mrs. E. Hale, Medford, OR; and Mrs. C.C. Harkelroad, Fariston and one brother, Mr. J.R. Tuttle of Jacksonville, FL; a n umber of grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She united with the Baptist church several years ago and lived a devoted Christian life to the end. Junior Earl Ridings, 84, beloved friend to Russell Boggs, passed away peacefully, at Roo Lan Health Care in Lacey, WA. He was better known as ‘Earl’ to his friends.

He was born May 14, 1936, in Fork Ridge, Tennessee, to Eugene and Hazel Ridings. While attending Rainier School in Buckley, Wash for quite some time, he began to work at a nursing home owned by Russell’s grandfather in Kent, WA. As time went on, the nursing home was sold by grandpa and Earl had become part of the family. Grandpa and Earl relocated to Onalaska, WA where, from bare ground, a farm was started. Earl worked by grandpa’s side on the farm. He enjoyed all aspects of farm life-taking care of the animals, haying (even in 90 degree weather) and the comradery of talking to other farmers that would stop by to visit. Junior also enjoyed riding his bicycle and going to church. Earl was the last of the “Dun Roamin' Ranch” era. A farm that he was always very proud of.

Kathie "Elaine" Bobbitt Cates, 69 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on August 6th, 1942 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of Leta Opal Bates Bobbitt and the late Henry Wilson Bobbitt. She was a retired cook for the Pulaski County School System. Kathie loved flowers, reading, and gardening. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, where she served as the Sunday Class treasurer.

Kathie was survived by her loving husband, Charles "Charlie" Cates, whom she married on October 17th, 1970 in Danville, Kentucky; her mother, Leta Opal Bates Bobbitt; three sons, Barry Gene (and Janice) Branscum of Somerset, Kentucky, Eric (and Angel) Cates of Milan, Tennessee, and Darren Cates of Memphis, Tennessee; three daughters, Kellie (and David) Baker of Somerset, Kentucky, Ginger (and Randy) Adams of Trenton, Tennessee, and Tracy Denton of Union City, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Kacie Marie Baker, Nathan Lee Baker, Justin Duncan, Thomas Adams, Nathaniel Adams, Savannah Williams, Elijah Cates, Jared Cates, and Jordan Cates; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Maze Bobbitt of Somerset, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was born October 4, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio a daughter of Betty Rhea Byrd and Clyde Ray Ridings. She attended schools in Apple Valley, California and later received her GED. She had lived in Colorado and California prior to coming to Pocatello about 25 years ago. In 1986 she married Mitch Baker, in American Falls, Idaho. They later divorced. On July 4, 1997 she married David L. Manning in Pocatello. She liked arts and crafts and was an avid race car fan. She also liked to collect nick-knacks. She greatly enjoyed her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include: her mother, Betty Rhea Ridings, Pocatello; husband, David L. Manning, Boise, Idaho; 2 sons, Matthew Erin Baker and Timothy Kyle Frank, both of Pocatello; a daughter, Ashley Rhea (Justin) Lawrence, Kaysville, Utah; 3 brothers, Steven Ray Ridings, Oak Harbor, Washington; Michael Roddy Ridings, Puyallup, Washington; James Drew Ridings, Pocatello; 3 grandchildren, Destini Rhea Dial, Levi Ray-Jay Lawrence, Shealynn Rhea Lawrence. Kimberly was born on October 24, 1956 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Edward and Jackie (Faulkner) Sprinkle.

She married Jeff Baker on April 3, 1976, and he survives.

Kimberly was a legal secretary for the Call Center in Marion. She loved I.U. Basketball, NASCAR Racing, especially driver Ryan Blaney and loved trying out new restaurants. Kimberly was a loving mother and wife and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jeff Baker of Marion; two sons, Ryan (Mandy) Baker of Marion and Jason (Michele) Baker of Ohio; a brother, Jan (Jan) Sprinkle of Mississippi; and grandchildren, Nolan, Trevor, Kylee, Dylan and Alyssa Baker.

She was born in Roda, Va., and had been a resident of the Kingsport area since 1947. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church and retired from Kings Department Store. Prior to her retirement she also worked at S.H. Kress in downtown Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Hawkins, Oct. 20, 2003; her parents, E.K. and Mattie Mae Newman; and one brother, Paul Newman.

She was born December 21, 1928, in Glenmore, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Laura (Kreischer) Bolenbaugh, who both preceded her in death. She married Sherman William Marsee, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include four children, Gene (Georgia) Marsee and Faye (John) Stroh, both of Walsenburg, CO, Kay (Tom) Clutter of Crook, CO, and Dennis (Connie) Marsee of Convoy; daughter-in-law, Myrna Marsee of Van Wert; brother, Bill (Marcille) Bolenbaugh of Ohio City; two sisters, Anita Copeland and Pearl Whitehead, both of Celina; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

LAIL, RUBY LEE, 56, of Bardstown, KY, was born July 10, 1956 to the late Ralph and Magdalene Patterson Mayes in Middlesboro, KY and returned to her Heavenly Father March 16, 2013.

Among those who preceded her in death include her parents; sister, Brenda Smith; brother, Ralph Mayes Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, David W. Lail; son Elliott Lail and his wife Stephanie; sisters, Debbie Heck (Jim) and Linda Kay Gulley; grandson, Ethan Lail; a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects 5-8 p.m. Monday at Schoppenhorst.

Larry Paul Carter age 77 of Pennington Gap, VA was born on May 20, 1944 in Pennington Gap, VA and passed away July 1, 2021 in Pennington Gap, VA. He was a Army veteran and a member of the Miles Freemason Lodge #165. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Minnie Carter, three brothers Jack Coffman, Ray Coffman and Gene Carter , two sisters JoAnn Carter Doss, Gay Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Dora Carter of the home, one son Michael Shannon and wife Betty Jo of Jonesville, VA one daughter Leshia Carter of Pennington Gap, VA and two grandsons that was his world Austin Hornby and Jacob Calhoun and numerous nieces and nephews family and friends.

At Mr. Carters request, he was cremated. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.provincefuneralhome.com. Province Funeral Home of Pennington Gap was in charge of the arrangements.
