He came to MO in 1845 & lived near St. Joseph, MO & Gentry Co., farming and teaching school. in 1850 returned to N. Carolina & then to DeKalb Co., MO. He married Miss Curlita Reece, 25 Feb 1851 in S.C.. curlita died 25 Nov 1855. He then married a second time to Margaret J. Ellingsworth. She died 18 Aug 1877. A third marriage took place with Mrs Harriet Emily Stambough, 1 May 1879. Harriet died 8 Sept 1899. In his first marriage he had 4 children & 1 survives... Hon. Isaac R. Williams, of Savannah, MO. 4903	Willie M. Coffman, age 89 of Kingston, formerly of Clinton, passed away November 29, 2012. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Willie Mae loved her Heavenly Father and was very dedicated to her church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie C. Coffman; parents, William Earnest and Mary Martha Mae Tollett Kerley; brothers, Ray, Roger, Ridley, Gordon and Toy Kerley; sisters, Violet Payne, Syble McGaha, Myrtle Webb, Anna Bess Kerley and Arkie Dodson. 4905	Wilma Irene Galloway, 91, of Spencer, and formerly of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015. She was born on Sept. 14, 1924 in London, Ky., to Jim Hale and Zora Virgie Anders Hale. Wilma was a graduate of London (Ky.) High School. She was a member of Good Tidings Tabernacle and had attended Greencastle Grace Tabernacle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Eugene Galloway, and a son, Gary Galloway. Surviving are her children, Larry Galloway and wife Rhonda of Reelsville, Jerry Galloway and wife Missi of Gosport, Paula Patton and husband LeeRoy of Cloverdale, and Marla Sanders of Greencastle; two brothers, Dan Hale and wife Alma of London, Ky., and Jerry Hale and wife Colleen of London, Ky.; a sister, Virginia Rockwell and husband Ronald of London, Ky.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 4906	Winfield Courier Winfield, Kansas Saturday, May 12, 1956 page 1 Jesse Ridings Dies Friday Evening at Home. Jesse Ridings, 87, died at his home, 1410 E. 1st, at 6:30 p.m., Friday. Final rites will be conducted at Morris Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Monday with Rev. Frank Weigle in charge. Burial will be in Highland cemetery. Mr. Ridings was born Aug. 23, 1868, at Scotchgove, Iowa, the son of James and Charlotte Ridings. He came to Kansas when 16 years of age, living in Abilene. He followed residence in Abilene with a move to Sumner county. In 1903 he moved from Sumner county to Dexter and from Dexter he moved to Winfield in 1929. He was married on Feb. 12, 1907, to Frances Elizabeth Seaton, who died on March 13, 1954. Mr. Ridings was a member of the Baptist church. He was the last of nine children. Survivors include a son, Harvey L., Winfield; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Olmstead, Phoenix, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Gary and Nila Olmstead, both of Phoenix.	Ridings, Jesse (I4813)

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willie and Beatrice Sharp; son, Steven Conrad Sharp; sister, Ruby Pauline Maddox. 4908	Woodrow "Woody" Bates, 67 years of age, of Louisville, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, June 9th, 1984 at the Methodist Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Woody was born in Somerset, Kentucky on March 3rd, 1917, son of James and Bertha Sears Bates. He was a retired worker for the Sealtest Milk Company where he had been employed for 40 years. He was also a musician and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Woody was survived by his parents, James and Bertha Bates; his loving wife, Christine John Bates; two sons, Kenneth W. Bates of Louisville, Kentucky and James Woodrow Bates of Somerset, Kentucky; three sisters, Maxine Dorf of Washington, D.C., Jean McCracken of Lexington, Kentucky, and Lena Garner of Murryville, Tennessee; three grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing. Visitations were held all day on Monday, June 11th, 1984 at the Ratterman Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky and again on Tuesday, June 12th at the Rock Lick Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky until time of funeral services. 4909	Woods, Martha Jane (Roberts), 86, entered into rest on Saturday, August 30, 2014, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death not only by her husband of 54 years, Clyde Woods, Sr., but many other family members as well. She was a kind and gentle soul, who never met a stranger. Her last years were spent in the loving care of her youngest daughter, Joyce Muss and granddaughter, Sarah. Martha Jane is survived by two sons, Clyde Woods, Jr. (Katherine), Larry Woods (Debbie), Another daughter, Vickie Daneshfar (Bahman); sister, Ruth Skeans;brother, Earl Roberts; seven precious grandchildren, Tony, Bryan, Sarah, Tracie, Shelby, Jenna, Bryn; and two faithful companions, Sierra Rose and Harley. 4912	WOODVILLE - Mary Frances Hanna Bates, 86, long-time resident of Kerrville, passed from this life on Thursday, July 20, 2006, in Woodville, Texas, at a care center. Born in Paris, Texas, she spent most of her childhood years in North Texas, and then later the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from Rio Hondo High School and attended college at Kilgore Junior College. She married Russell Richmon Bates in 1939. Her career included employment with Sears Roebuck and Co. in both Harlingen, Texas, and Kerrville, Texas, as well as Chas. Schreiner Bank. She was manager of Sears Catalog Sales office in Kerrville for a number of years. She was an active member of the Kerrville Church of Christ for many years, and also with the Livingston Church of Christ in later years. She enjoyed doing volunteer services for the Medina Children's Home, making visits and telephone calls, sewing, baking and traveling. She was preceded in death by Russell Bates, to whom she was married 43 years. She is survived by three children, Belva Bellcock of Searcy, Ark., Garon Bates of Livingston, Texas, and Loretta Derrick of League City, Texas; brother, James E. Hanna of Katy, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Sottosanti of Kerrville, Texas, and Margaret Clark of Midlothian, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving friends and neighbors. 4918	ZAVALLA - Services for Bernice Hale Culver, 73, of Zavalla were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1995, at the Lakewood Baptist Church in Zavalla with Pastor Lyle Hern officiating. Burial followed in the Zavalla City Cemetery in Zavalla. Mrs. Culver died Jan. 9 at Angelina Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lufkin. A native of Wheeler, TX, she lived in Leesville, LA before moving to Zavalla 19 years ago and was a retired budget analyst for the Federal Civil Service Department of the Army in Fort Polk, LA. Daughter of the late Ida Florence Broyles and Arthur Milton Toliver. Sister of the late Loretha O'Mary and Floyd Shelton. Grandmother of Troy Joseph Perez. 4920	ZORA HOWELL (1908-1998) Zora B. Howell Plummer, 90, of Portsmouth, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at a Russell, Ky., hospital. She was born March 21, 1908, in Lewis County, Ky., a daughter of the late Henry Howell and Rachael Kegley Howell. She was retired from the former Williams Manufacturing Company, was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union of New Boston, and a member of Eagles Lodge of New Boston and Moose Lodge of Portsmouth. Surviving are one son, William Plummer of Portsmouth; one daughter, Ruth Arrowood of Portsmouth; one brother, Fred Howell of Portsmouth; one sister, Blanche Leonard of Freemont; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Don and John Plummer; five brothers and one sister. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with the Rev. Jesse Ridings Dies Friday Evening at Home.

Jesse Ridings, 87, died at his home, 1410 E. 1st, at 6:30 p.m., Friday. Final rites will be conducted at Morris Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Monday with Rev. Frank Weigle in charge. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

Mr. Ridings was born Aug. 23, 1868, at Scotchgove, Iowa, the son of James and Charlotte Ridings. He came to Kansas when 16 years of age, living in Abilene.

He followed residence in Abilene with a move to Sumner county. In 1903 he moved from Sumner county to Dexter and from Dexter he moved to Winfield in 1929.

He was married on Feb. 12, 1907, to Frances Elizabeth Seaton, who died on March 13, 1954. Mr. Ridings was a member of the Baptist church. He was the last of nine children.

Survivors include a son, Harvey L., Winfield; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Olmstead, Phoenix, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Gary and Nila Olmstead, both of Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willie and Beatrice Sharp; son, Steven Conrad Sharp; sister, Ruby Pauline Maddox. Woodrow "Woody" Bates, 67 years of age, of Louisville, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, June 9th, 1984 at the Methodist Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Woody was born in Somerset, Kentucky on March 3rd, 1917, son of James and Bertha Sears Bates. He was a retired worker for the Sealtest Milk Company where he had been employed for 40 years. He was also a musician and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Woody was survived by his parents, James and Bertha Bates; his loving wife, Christine John Bates; two sons, Kenneth W. Bates of Louisville, Kentucky and James Woodrow Bates of Somerset, Kentucky; three sisters, Maxine Dorf of Washington, D.C., Jean McCracken of Lexington, Kentucky, and Lena Garner of Murryville, Tennessee; three grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

Visitations were held all day on Monday, June 11th, 1984 at the Ratterman Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky and again on Tuesday, June 12th at the Rock Lick Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky until time of funeral services.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 12th at the Rock Lick Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Vincent officiating.

Burial followed in the Rock Lick Baptist Church Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.

86, entered into rest on Saturday, August 30, 2014, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was preceded in death not only by her husband of 54 years, Clyde Woods, Sr., but many other family members as well.

She was a kind and gentle soul, who never met a stranger.

Her last years were spent in the loving care of her youngest daughter, Joyce Muss and granddaughter, Sarah. Martha Jane is survived by two sons, Clyde Woods, Jr. (Katherine), Larry Woods (Debbie),

Another daughter, Vickie Daneshfar (Bahman); sister, Ruth Skeans;brother, Earl Roberts; seven precious grandchildren, Tony, Bryan, Sarah, Tracie, Shelby, Jenna, Bryn; and two faithful companions, Sierra Rose and Harley.

WOODVILLE - Mary Frances Hanna Bates, 86, long-time resident of Kerrville, passed from this life on Thursday, July 20, 2006, in Woodville, Texas, at a care center.
Born in Paris, Texas, she spent most of her childhood years in North Texas, and then later the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from Rio Hondo High School and attended college at Kilgore Junior College. She married Russell Richmon Bates in 1939.
Her career included employment with Sears Roebuck and Co. in both Harlingen, Texas, and Kerrville, Texas, as well as Chas. Schreiner Bank. She was manager of Sears Catalog Sales office in Kerrville for a number of years.
She was an active member of the Kerrville Church of Christ for many years, and also with the Livingston Church of Christ in later years. She enjoyed doing volunteer services for the Medina Children's Home, making visits and telephone calls, sewing, baking and traveling.
She was preceded in death by Russell Bates, to whom she was married 43 years.
She is survived by three children, Belva Bellcock of Searcy, Ark., Garon Bates of Livingston, Texas, and Loretta Derrick of League City, Texas; brother, James E. Hanna of Katy, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Sottosanti of Kerrville, Texas, and Margaret Clark of Midlothian, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving friends and neighbors.
She was dearly loved by both sides of the extended family.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2006, in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, with interment following at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.

ZAVALLA - Services for Bernice Hale Culver, 73, of Zavalla were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1995, at the Lakewood Baptist Church in Zavalla with Pastor Lyle Hern officiating. Burial followed in the Zavalla City Cemetery in Zavalla.

Mrs. Culver died Jan. 9 at Angelina Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lufkin.

A native of Wheeler, TX, she lived in Leesville, LA before moving to Zavalla 19 years ago and was a retired budget analyst for the Federal Civil Service Department of the Army in Fort Polk, LA.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Culver, Sr., of Zavalla; daughter, Frances Linthicum of Houston; two sons, Vernon Culver, Jr., of Zavalla and Lee Culver of Sour Lake; and three sisters, Ethel Howell of Midland, Baylor Blair of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Margie Peyton of Chandler; one brother, Robert Hale of Chandler; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Ron S. White, James Caraway, Burl Caraway, Richard Riley, George A. Chute, and Mark Hale.

Zella Mae Toliver Gervais passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the age of 80 years.

Beloved mother of Angela "Dawn" Gervais Perez (Wesley). Daughter of the late Ida Florence Broyles and Arthur Milton Toliver. Sister of the late Loretha O'Mary and Floyd Shelton. Grandmother of Troy Joseph Perez. Great grandmother of Star Perez, Blanka Perrin and Alyssa Perez. Great great grandmother of Elyjah Schexnayder and Sonny Castiel David. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a native of Knoxville, Tennessee and a resident of Marrero, LA for the past 20 years.

Zora B. Howell Plummer, 90, of Portsmouth, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at a Russell, Ky., hospital.

She was born March 21, 1908, in Lewis County, Ky., a daughter of the late Henry Howell and Rachael Kegley Howell. She was retired from the former Williams Manufacturing Company, was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union of New Boston, and a member of Eagles Lodge of New Boston and Moose Lodge of Portsmouth.

Surviving are one son, William Plummer of Portsmouth; one daughter, Ruth Arrowood of Portsmouth; one brother, Fred Howell of Portsmouth; one sister, Blanche Leonard of Freemont; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Don and John Plummer; five brothers and one sister.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with the Rev. Quentin King officiating, and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
