  The date of death is from his death certificate. His gravemarker shows Oct 8, 1933. The birth certificate does not show a date of birth but it does show his age as 64 years/6 months/20 days which would resolve to 18 Mar 1869. The 1870/1880 census shows him borm in abt 1867 Asked if she remembered Henry Coffman,his granddaughter Vida Hale Pope said yes she did. She remembered him as being very kind and gentle. She could remember when she was very young sitting on his lap and him rocking her. Vida said the story of him being shot while riding horseback was not true. The family could have never afforded a horse. Henry and John Aaron Coffman worked at Bodert Mines which were closed as the depression set in. The two brothers then started working a mine in Pocket. Henry would walk from V.I.C. (a mining camp just outside of St Charles) to Pocket (guessing about 3-4 miles) everyday to work the mine. Henry died shortly after they started up the mine. Vida thought walking in the bad weather may have lead to his death, but from the cause of death on the his death certificate I wouldn't think so.
