EDWARD HALE, 50, TAKEN BY DEATH
Edward Hale was born October 16, 1892 at Blackwater, KY, and died January 18, 1943 in a hospital in Cincinnati of ulcer of the stomach. He was 50 years old, three months and two days old at the time of his death. He was the sone of the late James T. Hale and Elizabeth McFadden Hale and is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Susie Burkhart of Bush and Mrs. Neil Mullins of Corbin; also four brothers, Thomas Hale of Florence, CO; D.R. Hale of Lawton, OK; Milford Hale of Blackwater; J.R. Hale of Cane Creek.
He was preceded in death several years ago by two sisters, Mrs. Mahala Ledington and Mrs. Ida Walden, also two brothers and one sister, who died in infancy.
When a young man of nineteen, he went West to seek employment and was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Company as fireman and engineer at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Having served in this capacity for several years, he volunteered his service to the United States Army in World War No. 1 and was honorably discharged. When this war broke out, he again offered his services, but was refused on account of age and disability. For the past few months he has been employed as guard in defense work in Cincinnati.
Besides immediate famkily, he leaves a number of nieces and nephews, two aunts and two uncles along with either relatives and friends to mourn his death.
