MIDDLESBORO — Fannie Mae Ridings, age 87, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Pineville Community Hospital due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.
Born in Claiborne County, Tenn., on October 7, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John Yoakum and Roxie Hunter Yoakum Drummonds. She was united in marriage to Howard Ridings Sr. of Fonde, on August 30, 1941. She retired from the Middlesboro Independent School System in 1993 after working 27 years in food services.
She had been a faithful member of Binghamtown Baptist Church since 1989.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Riding Sr.; one sister Lillie Beeler; five brothers, Cliff Yoakum, Ed Yoakum, Fred Yoakum, Walter Yoakum and Grover Yoakum.
Survivors include her children: son, Howard (Jan) Ridings Jr. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and daughters, Janice Ridings and Pat Ridings of Middlesboro; granddaughters, Tammy (Darrell) Henline and Melissa Sue (Chris) Ridings-Baughman, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; great-granddaughters, Rachel and Abby Henline of Fort Wayne, Ind.; very special family friend, Homer Standifur of Middlesboro; her church family at Binghamtown Baptist Church who she loved dearly, and who has shown her so much love and support and prayers during her illness; and Dr. Thomas Epperson, ARH Home Health, Pineville Community Hospital staff and ARH Staff who took wonderful care of her.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Creech Funeral Home with Dr. William Boyd Bingham III, Garry Bingham and the Rev. Mike Welch presiding. Music will be provided by Gary Lewis, Jimmy Jackson, Dickie Siler and Don Henlsey.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Creech Funeral Home.
