- JONESVILLE, Va. Barlow Newman Sr., 82, died Sunday (Aug. 29, 1999) at Lee County Community Hospital, Pennington Gap, Va.
He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Lee County, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Stapleton Newman; an infant son, Robert Patrick Newman; and a son, Charlie Bill Newman; his parents, Cam and Emma Jessee Newman; two brothers, Chris and Oatie Newman; and one infant granddaughter, Rebecca Newman. Surviving are four sons, David Newman and wife, Dianne, Richmond, Va., Barlow Newman Jr. and wife, Nell, Jeff Newman and wife, Linda and Danny Newman and wife, Mary, all of Jonesville, Va.; four daughters, Nancy Newman Corbin and husband, Hershel, Easley, S.C., Mary Newman McDaniel and husband, Buck, Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Newman Hines and husband, Harold, Carolyn Newman Gilley and husband, Jack, all of Jonesville, Va.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jr. Newman, Jonesville, Va.; four sisters, Mollie Sewell, Byrd Warner, Ruby Ely and Bonnie Hopkins, all of Jonesville, Va.
