Cam Newman Jr., 93, of Jonesville, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 10, 1922 in Jonesville to the late Cam and Emma Jesse Newman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Byrd Edwards Newman; four sisters, Mollie Sewell, Nancy Byrd Warner, Ruby Ely and Bonnie Hopkins; and three brothers, Chris, Oatie and Barlow Newman Sr.
Cam was a 1942 graduate of Jonesville High School and was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Jonesville Methodist Church but attended Thompson Settlement Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Wilder and husband Wade, of Jonesville, and Emma Hensley and husband Roger, also of Jonesville; son, Richard Newman and wife Martha, of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Tammy Wright and husband John, Anthony Wilder and wife Vickie, Richard Scott Newman and wife Lisa, Barry Wilder and Eric Hensley; great-grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, Jordan, Austin, Peyton, Colton and Carrie; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Revs. John and Justin Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery.
