- Ina Faye Hale, 87, London, Ky., passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Saint Joseph-London. A native of Laurel County, she was born Sept. 24, 1923, the daughter of the late Victor and Allie Hale. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and was a school teacher for 36 years in the Laurel County School System. She was listed in “Outstanding Personalities of the South” in 1967 and in “Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America” in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, General “Hawk” Hale; and two brothers, Edsel Hale and Max Hale. Survivors include a daughter, Anita Beryl Mullins and husband, Carson, London; a son, Michael Darrin Hale and wife, Lynn, London; two sisters, Lisle Hale, London, and Janice O’Neal, Zollo, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jerry Mullins and wife, Angie, James Mullins and wife, Constantine, and Dalton Hale, all of London; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Columbus Hensley and David Lawson officiating. Burial followed in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery on Blackwater Road. Pallbearers were James Mullins, Jerry Mullins, Matt Hale, Robert Ledington, Harold Hughes and Felix Hale. Visitation was from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until the funeral hour.
