- Tilmon Hale, 91, Marydale Road, London, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Ky. A Laurel County native, he was born Sept. 2, 1918, the son of Drucilla Gross Hale and Henry Hale. He was a retired farmer and state highway employee, a World War II Army veteran and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Brown Hale; a son, Douglas Hale; a sister, Ida Pennington; and two brothers, Defin Hale and Walter Hale. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Cheek and husband, Paul, and Carolyn Lawson and husband, Rex, all of London; son, Monte Hale, of Somerset; daughter-in-law, Donna Hale, of London; six grandchildren, Deirdre Mays, Paul Douglas Cheek, Greg Cheek and Tennille Roberts, all of London, Darrin Hale, of Lexington, and O’Dail Lawson, of Georgetown; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today, Sept. 25, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral hour. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the London Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne House and Denny McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Blackwater. Pallbearers will be Darrin Hale, O’Dail Lawson, Paul Douglas Cheek, Greg Cheek, Chris Roberts and Denver Mays. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
