- Lt. Col. (Ret.) Virgil Parker Ridings Jr., 79, husband of Barbara Hippe Ridings, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020. He was born in Louisville on October 13, 1940 to the late Virgil Sr. and Georgia Rainbolt Ridings. He retired from the United States Air Force. He was a deacon and minister of music for Millville Baptist Church and was the principal of Millville Baptist Academy for over 25 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Philip (Janet) Ridings, Millville, and Karen (Tim) Sams, Millville; his sister, Jane Mueller, FL; grandchildren, Katie Ridings, Parker Ridings, Wesley Ridings, Joshua Ridings, Rachel Ridings, Georgia (Micheal) Keller, Joel (Brittany) Sams, Ronnie (Cierla) Sams, Robbie Sams, Rebecca Sams, James Sams, and Daniel Sams; and his great grandchildren, David Keller, Elsie Sams, and Peter Sams. Services will be private at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. Burial will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
