Born in Clairborne County, Tenn., she had been a resident of Indiana and Lee County, Va., most of her life. She worked at a factory and bakery in Indianapolis, Ind., and operated a beauty shop out of her home for years. She was a member of the MEOC in Pennington Gap, Va.

She was a member of the Dryden Baptist Church in Dryden, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Cloud; parents, W.H. and Rachel Shelton Ridings; one sister, Ceonia Ridings; 10 brothers, Luther, Willie, Clifford, Andrew (Nig), Julius, Richard, James (Snook), Claude, Odie and Charles Ridings.

Clides is survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, her church family, and many friends and special friends and caregivers, Peggy and Bud Stidham.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary of the funeral home with the Rev. Henry (Bud) Stidham officiating.

Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.

Richard Ridings, age 83, died at his Noblesville home January 12, 2002.
Ridings was a disables Army veteran of World War II. He received the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, an American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and EPO Ribbon. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 6246 of Noblesville.

He was born February 20, 1918, in Bryson, Tennessee to the late W.H. and Rachel (Shelton) Ridings. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by ten brothers and a sister.

His wife Nell I. (Stapleton) Ridings, lives in Noblesville, as do his daughters, Carolyn Gibson, Wanda Lockhart and Patty Miles. A sister Clides Cloud, lives in Woodway, Va. He is also survived by serveral nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was January 14 at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, Noblesville. Services were January 15 at the funeral home, Pastor Mark Lowe officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens , Fishers.

A resident of Lee County, Va. for most of her life, she was a member of McConnells Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Collins; her parents, Jack and Mittie Ridings; four brothers, Chester, Junior, Carl and Clayton Ridings; and two sisters, Grace Clappsaddle and Opal Ramsey.

Lenoir Musser, 96, of Talbott, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018. She was born to Jacob and Isabel Keck Shelton in Tazewell, Tennessee.

Lenoir was the eighth in a family of twelve children, who all spent their childhood in East Tennessee having moved from Claiborne County to Jefferson County when the youngest child was five years old. Lenoir spent 14 years living in Hopkinsville, KY, attending First Baptist Church of Hopkinsville and working with the Christian County Baptist Association for 8 years. She and her family moved back to Tennessee in the early 60’s. She was a long-time member of Manley Baptist Church, beginning in its early formative years.

Lenoir was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Musser; and all her brothers and sisters, Cleophas, Lora, Louda, Noma, Oaty, Whitaker, Carl, Vernetta, Weyer, Roy and Georgia.

She is survived by her son, Stephen (Judy) Musser; daughter, Annie; grandchildren, Jenni and John (Bethany) Musser; great-granddaughters, Monica and Christina; great-great-grandchildren, Addison, Alivia and Karson; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

WEYER JOHN SHELTON of New Market, TN, lifelong farmer and consummate gentleman, passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, September 20, 2012. He was born in Claiborne County, TN and spent his childhood years with eleven brothers and sisters on the family farm in the Straight Creek community. The family moved to New Market when Norris Lake was created, flooding their land in Claiborne County. Weyer spent the remainder of his life in New Market, where he operated a dairy farm and raised tobacco for most of those years. More recently, up until his passing, he managed several large chicken houses and raised beef cattle. He served as a Jefferson County Commissioner and was a Soil Conservation District Farmer of the Year. He was a member of Nance's Grove Baptist Church in New Market.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jake Shelton and Isabel Keck Shelton, and by his wife, Dena Burchell Shelton. He was also preceded in death by one infant child (Edward Shelton); brothers Cleopas, Oaty, White, Carl and Roy Shelton; sisters Lora Mathews, Louda Bender, Noma Paladino, Vernetta Caruso and Georgia Collins.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jo Anne and James Medlin of Kingsport; daughter, Mary Rose Shelton; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Shelton, and son, Bobby Shelton, all of New Market; sister, Lenoir Musser of Talbott; grandchildren, Scott, Matthew and Jonathan Shelton, Jenna Clingner, Mark and Will Medlin; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn worked for Fred's Frozen Foods, and had also been a hairdresser with Style & File. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Noblesville, where she was very active. She loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Billy Joe “Bill” Ridings was born on Monday, May 5, 1947, in St. Charles, Virginia, to the late James “Snook” Ridings and Bernice Parsons Ridings. He entered into his heavenly home on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the age of 74. He was a graduate of St. Charles High School. Bill was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1967 where he served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. Most of his career was spent in the coal mining industry in which he loved, and after retirement, he continued to find great enjoyment in sharing stories from his mining days. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. Bill loved the Lord and began and ended each day reading and studying God’s word.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Bobby Ridings. Bill is survived by the following family who loved and will miss him dearly: His wife of 36 years, Linda Ridings of the home, one daughter, Stacey Belcher (Tim) of Pennington Gap, VA. One step-son, Alan Dollins (Anita) of Mooresburg, TN; One step-daughter, Debra McGinnis (Mike) of Mooresburg, TN. Three step grand-children Samantha McGinnis, Matthew Dollins, and Jazmine Dollins. His remains will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Mr. Bush was born on July 10, 1942 in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee to the late Leonard and Macie Robertson Bush. He retired as a hospital lab tech.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Mulholland and Geneva Harrah.

Bush, mother Macie Robertson Bush, twin brother Willard Kyle Bush, and sisters Jeanette Mulholland and Geneva Harrah. Lillard is survived by his wife, best friend, and caretaker Josephine Bush. Obituary for Jack Benny Collins Sr. Jack Benny Collins, Sr. of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Jack spent 10 years serving in the National Guard in Maryland and Illinois. He was a retired over the road truck driver and instructor, known by his CB handle as, “Smiling Jack.” He also worked as an EMT for Jonesville, Pennington Gap and St. Charles Rescue Squad. Jack was a family man and was an excellent husband, father and papaw. He helped numerous people in his community and was loved by many. Jack loved Bluegrass music and a good laugh. He loved attending the Message of Truth and Grace Fellowship Churches. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mossie Ridings Collins. Lois June Felver, age 80, of Celina, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at The Enclave of Springboro, in Springboro, Ohio.

She was born December 27, 1942, in the village of Mercer, Ohio, to the late Odie and Dorothy (Reed) Marsee.

Lois leaves behind her husband, Ronald D. Felver, Sr., who survives in Celina, and her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Stephanie Myers of Springboro.

Five grandchildren: Brooke White, Ryan Myers, Danielle Wills, Solomon Myers and Silas Myers, and five great-grandchildren: Baileigh, Carolyn, Magnolia Mae, Ethan and Cassie.

Other survivors are her sister, Susan Caffee of Berne, and stepchildren: Ronald D. Felver Jr. and Randy Felver, both of Celina and Peggy Felver of Rockford.

Over the years, Lois was a factory worker at Hayes-Albion in Spencerville and she had also worked as a housekeeper in the hospitality industry and was employed as a nurse's aide.
