    James Elmer Hyrne, 89, of Vanceburg, Ky., died Thursday, March 26, 1992, at a Maysville, Ky., hospital after a long illness.

    Born Sept. 22, 1902, in Stricklett, Ky., a son of the late Thomas and Sarah Kegley Hyrne, he was a retired farmer.

    Preceded in death by his wife, Dora M. Fetters Hyrne, on Jan. 18, 1990, he is survived by a son, James W. Hyrne of Wakesman; a daughter, Maxine Lewis of Vanceburg; two half-brothers, Ora Shaw and Alva Shaw, both of Lorain; three half-sisters, Edith Shaw of Virginia, Nellie Shaw of Portsmouth, and Flora Dunigan of Vanceburg; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

    He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Hyrne and Ernest Hyrne.

    Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, with the Rev. Carl Stanfield officiating, and interment in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Ribolt, Ky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. until the services Sunday.

    Vanceburg - Services for Ernest W. Hyrne, 59, Lewis County farmer killed in an automobile-train accident Friday, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Aills Christian Church, Lewis County, with burial in the Aills Cemetery.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Monroe Hyrne; two daughters, Mrs. Ora Evans, Dyer, Ind., and Mrs. Ernest Scott, Sullivan, Ohio; two brothers, Albert and Elmer Hyrne, both of Vanceburg; two half-brothers, Ora and Alva Shaw, both of Lorain, Ohio; three half-sisters, Mrs. Hubert Moore, Vanceburg, Mrs. Edith Harless, Huntington, W.Va., and Miss Nellie Hyrne, Portsmouth, Ohio.

    Dickerson Funeral Home here is in charge of arrangements.

    Flora Shaw Moore Dunigan, age 100, of Tollesboro, Kentucky, went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, November 24, 2014, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe, in Maysville, Kentucky. She was born June 12, 1914, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Moveta Kegley Shaw. Flora was a life-long resident of Lewis County and attended the Shepherds Chapel Church and Galilee Christian Church for many years. She was a loving wife and mother. Flora was well known for her Sunday dinners, as many residents in Lewis County had the wonderful opportunity to sit at her table as she gladly served them a warm, home-cooked meal. Flora loved her family, friends and church.

    She loved raising a garden and sharing the harvest with friends and family. Even with failing health issues, with the help of her daughter, Linda, and granddaughter, Malena, they were able to can many fruits and vegetables for the winter. Flora enjoyed reading her Bible. In her spare time on long winter days, she enjoyed keeping her mind sharp by working her Bible word puzzles and quilting. Flora also thoroughly enjoyed a good game of dominos with her family.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her first husband of 44 years, Hubert Moore, who passed away on January 16, 1978; her second husband of two years, Sam Dunigan, who passed away on December of 1990; one grandson, Daron Joe Ruggles; two sisters, Edith Jackson and Nellie Sexton; one brother, Ora Shaw; and three half-brothers, Albert, Ernest, and Elmer Hyrne. Flora is survived by: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Thelma and Aubrey Ruggles, Linda Moore, and Brenda and Douglas Toller, all of Tollesboro, and Shirley and Richard Colley, of Blue Creek, Ohio; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Alva Shaw, of Maysville, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Wilma Shaw, of Elyria, Ohio; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, at Dickerson Funeral Home, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Brother Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens, in Vanceburg. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, until the service hour at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

    Alva Shaw, 92, former resident of Maysville passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley, OH. where he had been a resident for sometime.
    Mr. Shaw was born in Lewis County on September 7, 1922 son of the late Charles and Sarah Moveta Kegley Shaw. He was a retired employee of U.S. Steel and an Army Veteran of WW II where he served in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines as a medical technician. He attended Ripley Church of the Nazarene and he loved being with his family and loved the Lord.
    Survivors include a son Jonathan (Carolyn) Shaw and a daughter Glenlyn (Johnnie) Conley both of Maysville. Two step children, Jim McIntire and Nora Ruble. Two grandchildren, Scott (Keri) Conley and Anne (Matt) Baker and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ashley Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife Sentella Nelson Shaw and a step-son Dennis McIntire; a brother, Ora Shaw ; three sisters, Nellie Sexton, Flora Moore Dunigan and Edith Jackson; three half brothers Albert, Ernest and Elmer Hyrne.
    Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home in May’s Lick with Rev.’s Clark Castle and Jonathan Groves officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials suggested to Hospice of Hope, Ripley Church of the Nazarene or Lewisburg Baptist Church.
