    John married Julia A. Tinnel on June 23, 1883 in Claiborne County, Tenn. I assume that his first wife, Elizabeth Sparks died before 1883. I am not directly related to John Ridings, only by his marriage to Elizabeth Sparks, so I don't document his second marriage.



    Looking for info. on John R. Ridings born 1850 possibly in Va. He married Julia A. Tindell thought to have been born in Tn. in 1871. They had the following children- John Calvin, Thomas M., David N., Martin J., Nancy, Coyett C., Letthia Viola, Ike, Sarah L., William J., Maggie E., and another child unknown. John Calvin was my great grandfather. He married Mary (Mammie) Jeffries. Looking for anyone searching for this line of Ridings or Jeffries.

    GRAY, VIVIAN DARLENE (MIDGE) RIDINGS - of North Knoxville, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998. She was a member of Elm St. Baptist Church and VFW Post 1733 Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. Gray was the widow of Kenneth Cecil (Toby) Gray, who died in 1997. Her survivors include sons, Michael Wayne Ridings and Dale Roberson of Georgia; daughters, Jackquline D. Carron, Shelia Rogers, Marie Worthington of Georgia and Wanda Rouse of Knoxville; stepchildren, Judy Rouse of Knoxville, Susan Sexton of Chattanooga, Kenneth Wayne Gray of Virginia and Jack Childress, Jr. of Michigan; sisters, Beatrice Branum and Eva Callahan of Knoxville; brother, Edward Ridings of Knoxville; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday in Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Keith Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.     Born Dec. 28, 1930, in Claiborne County, Tenn., he was the son of Lassie B. Brumett Cinnamon of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and the late William Arnold Cinnamon.

    He attended public schools in Tennessee and completed additional training with the U.S. Government.

    He worked as an inspector with the U.S. Government, Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., until retiring in 1991.

    He was a Protestant.

    He was a member of Woodsmen of the World.

    In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Billie June Smith Cinnamon; two daughters, Barbara Ann Sanders of Philippi, W.Va., and Tammie Lynn Morine of Hedgesville; a sister, Lucille Barnett of Oak Ridge; a brother, Paul Cinnamon of Oak Ridge; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

    Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate.

    Burial will be private with military honors by Tri-State Honor Guard.

    The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m.
