    Mrs. Nancy Anna Elliott Kegley, wife of George Henry Kegley, died at her home on Clark Street yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock following a prolonged illness. She had undergone an operation in a Portsmouth, Ohio hospital last February and had been in a serious condition for the past six weeks. She was 54 years old.

    Following her husband's retirement from farming four years ago, the family moved to Maysville, where they had since resided.

    The deceased was a daughter of the late Richard and Molly Elliott and was born in Elliott County January 7, 1888. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

    A woman of many admirable characteristics, Mrs. Kegley had acquired numerous friends during her residence here. Kindly and charitable, she was well loved and esteemed by all who knew her, and her passing will be mourned by her associates.

    Surviving beside her husband are five sons and four daughters, Clarence and Betty Jewell Kegley, at home; Mrs. Raymond Rigdon, Mrs. Raymond Jester, Mrs Randolph Mason, and Clyde Kegley, all of this city; Ora and Willard Kegley of Lewis County, and Private Elwood Kegley of Langley Field, Virginia. Also she leaves three brothers, James and John Elliott of Lewis County, and Neal Elliott of Pennsylvania, and sixteen grandchildren.

    The body was returned to the late residence today at noon from the Knox Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Rev. Sherman Woods, of Ashland will officiate, assisted by Rev. J.W. Cummins, pastor of the Tabernacle Church. Interment will be in the Marsville Cemetery.

    MAYSVILLE | Virginia Kegley Carpenter, 94, a resident ofAberdeen, Ohio, formerly of Maysville, passed away Friday, Jan. 6,2012, at her home with her family at her side.
    Mrs. Carpenter was born in Lewis County, on April 24, 1917, thedaughter of the late George Henry and Anna Elliott Kegley.
    She was the devoted wife of the late Deward M. Carpenter.
    She is survived by her three children, Charlotte (Richard) Allenof Aberdeen, Shirley (Doug) White of Manchester, Ohio, and Randy(Diana) Mason of Aberdeen. She is also survived by sixgrandchildren, Kelly (Russ) Ward of Morehead, Jenny (Joel) Higginsof Warsaw, Ind., Stephen (Jennifer) White of Manchester, DanielMason and Ryan Mason of Cincinnati, Eric Mason of Aberdeen; andseven great-grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, BettyJewel Crump of Aberdeen; and a brother, Clarence Kegley ofRussellville, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
    Preceding her in death were two sisters, Vada Rigdon and DorothyJester; and four brothers, Willard, Clyde, Ora and ElwoodKegley.
    Mrs. Carpenter was one of the oldest surviving active members ofthe Central Baptist Church which she joined in 1936. There sheserved many years caring for the young children in the churchnursery. Mrs. Carpenter's roots were always important to her. Shekept those roots deeply grounded by maintaining the "home place" inLewis County where the Kegleys and their descendents from far andwide gather on Labor Day weekend to renew family ties.
    Services for Virginia Carpenter will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10,2012, at 11 a.m., at the Central Baptist Church with Rev. RobertDonovan officiating, assisted by Rev. Mark Powell.
    Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery.

    Elwood Clayton Kegley, 84, of Carpenter Road in Wallingford, Kentucky, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Fleming County Hospital following a long illness. He is survived by his devoted of 63 years, Georgia Hitt Kegley.

    He was born December 20, 1919 in the Long Branch community of Lewis County and was the son of the late George Henry and Anna Elliott Kegley.

    Mr. Kegley was a longtime farmer in the Mt. Carmel area and attended Mount Carmel Christian Church.

    He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was appointed Kentucky Colonel during the term of Governor Wendell Ford (his father was also a Kentucky Colonel).

    Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Elwood "Sonny" Howard Kegley and his wife Barb, Jimmy Dale Kegley and his wife Gerry, and Wanda Kegley Davis and her husband Robert Richard, all of Fleming County; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Carpenter and Jewell Crump, both of Aberdeen, Ohio; two brothers, Ora Kegley of Lewis County and Clarence Kegley of Russellville, Ohio.

    Preceding him in death were two brothers, Willard and Clyde Kegley; two sisters, Vada Rigdon and Dorothy Jester; and one grandchild.

    Services for Elwood Kegley will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Central Baptist Church is the Rev. Robert M. Donovan officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

    Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, David Kegley, Timmy Hickerson, Jeff Drury, John Sibert, Duane Denny, Jeff Hilterbrand, Marty Maze, John Utterback, and Jason Prater.

    MAYSVILLE — Betty Jewel Kegley Crump, 95, former resident of Aberdeen, Ohio and formerly from Maysville, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the Legacy Village Assisted Living in Tifton Georgia. She was the widow of Harry Douglas Crump who passed away in 1979.

    Mrs. Crump was born in Lewis County on Nov. 2, 1923, the daughter of the late George Henry and Anna Elliott Kegley.

    She is survived by her two children, Douglas (Carol) Crump and Sheila (Bob) Cartwright; five grandchildren, Steven (Leslie) Crump, Shawn (Jo) Crump, Stephanie (Monty) Siefker, Jason (Sarah) Scott and Stacy (Joshua) Brittain; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Vada Rigdon, Dorothy Jester and Virginia Carpenter; and five brothers, Willard, Clyde, Ora, Elwood and Clarence Kegley. Henry and Anna Kegley were blessed with nine children and Mrs. Crump was the last surviving sibling.

    For many years Mrs. Crump was a loyal member of the Central Baptist Church in Maysville. She faithfully attended and supported the church until she moved to Georgia to live with her daughter Sheila (Bob) Cartwright.

    The family will receive friends and family at Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 6-8 p.m.

    Services will be held at the Union Baptist Church in Lewis County at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019.

    Burial will follow in the McEldowney Cemetery in Lewis County.

    Clarence Kegley age 92 of Russellville, Ohio passed away Saturday September 16, 2017 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, OH with his family by his side. He was born July 23, 1925 in Lewis County, KY the son of the late George Henry and Anna (Elliott) Kegley.

    Mr. Kegley was a farmer, township trustee, and entrepreneur (founder of the Brown County Speedway and the Midway Restaurant). He was a charter member of the Georgetown Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, trustee and treasurer. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin he built in “Kegley Holler” and always looked forward to reuniting with family at the annual Kegley reunion each Labor Day. He was also a WWII veteran of the “Amphibious” Navy. He was aboard LST292 and landed at the invasion of Normandy in June 1944.

    Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Thelma M DeAtley Kegley and siblings Vada Rigdon, Dorthy Jester, Virginia Carpenter, Willard Kegley, Clyde Kegley, Ora Kegley and Elwood Kegley.

    Clarence is survived by 1 daughter; Donna Hickerson and husband Alfred “Jr.” of Russellville, 1 sister; Betty Jewel Crump of Tifton, GA, 1 grand daughter; Mechelle Geiger and husband Doug of Cincinnati, 2 great grandchildren Jared & Jordan Geiger and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Georgetown Baptist Church, 794 S. Main St., Georgetown, OH 45121 under the direction of the Meeker Funeral Home. Ron Garbutt will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Linwood Cemetery in Russellville with military services by the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team. Visitation will be held Tuesday September 19, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Georgetown Baptist Church.

    Nelson D. Kegley, Age 79, of Vanceburg passed away Thursday January 24, 2019 at his home. Nelson was born in Stricklett, Ky. February 5, 1939 to the late Willard and Verna May Howell Kegley.

    Nelson retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, Ohio where he worked has a forklift operator for 30 years. After his retirement he worked along side his brother Howard in siding. He loved playing cards every Friday night with his brothers and sisters and liked playing practical jokes on them and the family. He was a member of the Petersville Church of God where he was a very active member and was on the Board of Directors.

    He LOVED his children and adored his grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

    Surviving Nelson is his wife of 22 years whom he married November 18th, 1996 in Vanceburg, Ky. Wilma Russell Kegley; children, Debbie Kegley and her companion (Tom), Dana (Walt) Moore, Christopher (Deanna) Kegley, Della Logan, Tammy Stacy, and Travis Stacy; mother of Nelson’s children, Helen Kegley; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, June (Clarence Mack) McClung, Lorene Howard, and Sharon Arnett; brothers, Glen W. Kegley, Eldon (Mary) Kegley, Delmar (Anna) Kegley, Gary Kegley, Roger (Kathy) Kegley, Howard (Paula) Kegley, Bradley (Sharon) Kegley, and Wade Kegley.

    Preceded in death beside his parents was a brother- Dennis Kegley.

    Funeral services will be Sunday January 27th, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Petersville Church of God with Brother Milt Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in the McEldowney Cemetery,
