    Elwood Clayton Kegley was born on 20 Dec 1919 in Lewis Co, KY; died on 24 Dec 2003 in Fleming Co, KY; was buried in Mason Co, KY.

    Elwood Clayton Kegley, 84, of Carpenter Road in Wallingford, Kentucky, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Fleming County Hospital following a long illness. He is survived by his devoted of 63 years, Georgia Hitt Kegley.

    He was born December 20, 1919 in the Long Branch community of Lewis County and was the son of the late George Henry and Anna Elliott Kegley.

    Mr. Kegley was a longtime farmer in the Mt. Carmel area and attended Mount Carmel Christian Church.

    He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was appointed Kentucky Colonel during the term of Governor Wendell Ford (his father was also a Kentucky Colonel).

    Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Elwood "Sonny" Howard Kegley and his wife Barb, Jimmy Dale Kegley and his wife Gerry, and Wanda Kegley Davis and her husband Robert Richard, all of Fleming County; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Carpenter and Jewell Crump, both of Aberdeen, Ohio; two brothers, Ora Kegley of Lewis County and Clarence Kegley of Russellville, Ohio.

    Preceding him in death were two brothers, Willard and Clyde Kegley; two sisters, Vada Rigdon and Dorothy Jester; and one grandchild.

    Services for Elwood Kegley will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Central Baptist Church is the Rev. Robert M. Donovan officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

    Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, David Kegley, Timmy Hickerson, Jeff Drury, John Sibert, Duane Denny, Jeff Hilterbrand, Marty Maze, John Utterback, and Jason Prater.
