    WOODVILLE - Mary Frances Hanna Bates, 86, long-time resident of Kerrville, passed from this life on Thursday, July 20, 2006, in Woodville, Texas, at a care center.
    Born in Paris, Texas, she spent most of her childhood years in North Texas, and then later the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from Rio Hondo High School and attended college at Kilgore Junior College. She married Russell Richmon Bates in 1939.
    Her career included employment with Sears Roebuck and Co. in both Harlingen, Texas, and Kerrville, Texas, as well as Chas. Schreiner Bank. She was manager of Sears Catalog Sales office in Kerrville for a number of years.
    She was an active member of the Kerrville Church of Christ for many years, and also with the Livingston Church of Christ in later years. She enjoyed doing volunteer services for the Medina Children's Home, making visits and telephone calls, sewing, baking and traveling.
    She was preceded in death by Russell Bates, to whom she was married 43 years.
    She is survived by three children, Belva Bellcock of Searcy, Ark., Garon Bates of Livingston, Texas, and Loretta Derrick of League City, Texas; brother, James E. Hanna of Katy, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Sottosanti of Kerrville, Texas, and Margaret Clark of Midlothian, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving friends and neighbors.
    She was dearly loved by both sides of the extended family.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2006, in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, with interment following at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.

    Belva Bellcock, of Searcy, passed from this life on Friday, November 7, 2014. She was born on Monday, January 1, 1940 in Harlingen, Texas to the late Richmon and Frances Bates. When she was seven years old her family moved to Kerrville, Texas. She graduated in 1958 from Tivy High School in Kerrville. Belva was a faithful Christian servant and member of the Four Mile Hill Church of Christ.

    Belva is survived by her husband, James B. Bellcock, who she married on January 1, 1970. She is also survived by her four children, Karen Fonville and husband Earl of Colleyville, TX, Nancy Nicholas and husband Nathan of Trenton, TN, James Bellcock and wife Tamara of Little Rock, AR and Donald Bellcock and wife Nancy of Maumelle, AR; brother, Garon Bates of Livingston, TX; sister, Loretta Derrick of League City, TX; and grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Corbin (Mandy), Drew, Lauren, Pierce, Aaron, Jenny, Tricia, Nate and Jacob.

    Belva was retired from Harding University where she worked for many years in the Brackett Library. She loved gardening and cooking for her family and friends. She was a wonderful hostess and regularly invited others to join the family for holiday meals. She loved the fellowship and friendship of her friends at water aerobics. She had the heart of a servant for so many people but especially over the last few years when she faithfully and tirelessly cared for her husband after his accident. Belva was involved in many Bible studies and loved sharing her faith. She loved her grandchildren and always enjoyed having them visit as often as possible.

    Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2014, 2:00-3:00pm at Four Mile Hill Church of Christ. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Herb Lee and Casey McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in White County Memorial Gardens.

    Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Adam, Corbin, Drew, Pierce, Aaron and Nate. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Paul Miller, Joe Sims and Chris Collett.
