Henry S. Hale, 81, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday October 14 at his home at Marydell after an illness of several years. Born in Laurel County on July 19, 1877, the son of Franklin and Cinda Sasser Hale, he was married to Drusilla Gross, who with one daughter and two sons survive. They are Mrs. Ida Pennington, Tuttle; Tilman Hale, Marydell; Delfin Hale, Cane Creek; 9 grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Nannie Mae Sasser, London, and one brother, Victor Hale, Cane Creek.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Shady Grove Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Revs. Bill George and George Cole were officiating ministers.

Interment was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery by the House Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nicie Hale Newman, 62 years old died at 10:45 o'clock last Saturday morning at Lexington following a year's illness.
Her body was removed to her home at Blackwater and funeral services were held at 10 o'clock
Monday morning at the Pilgrims Rest cemetery with the Rev. L.A. Jollay officiating.
Interment followed at Pilgrims Rest by the House Funeral Home.
Mrs. Newman was the daughter of the late F.J. and Lucinda Sasser Hale.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Carrington, Spartansburg, SC;
and one son, Clarence Newman, whose present address is unknown;
one sister Mrs. Nannie Mae Sasser, Cane Creek

A native of Laurel County,he was the son of Franklin J. and Lucinda Sasser Hale. Mr. Hale was a veteran of WW1 and a member of the Blackwater United Baptist Church. He was married to the former Allie Ledington, who survives.Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ina Fay Hale, Mrs. Janice O'Neal and Miss Elma Lisle Hale, Lexington; two sons, Edsel Hale, Clarkston, Mich. and Maxwell Hale, Lida; one sister, Mrs. Nannie Sasser, London and 12 grandchildren.Services were held August 15 by the Revs. Layton Vanhook and Lowell Gilbert at House Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.

A Laurel County native, he was born Sept. 2, 1918, the son of Drucilla Gross Hale and Henry Hale. He was a retired farmer and state highway employee, a World War II Army veteran and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Brown Hale; a son, Douglas Hale; a sister, Ida Pennington; and two brothers, Defin Hale and Walter Hale. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Cheek and husband, Paul, and Carolyn Lawson and husband, Rex, all of London; son, Monte Hale, of Somerset; daughter-in-law, Donna Hale, of London; six grandchildren, Deirdre Mays, Paul Douglas Cheek, Greg Cheek and Tennille Roberts, all of London, Darrin Hale, of Lexington, and O’Dail Lawson, of Georgetown; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today, Sept. 25, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral hour. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and was a school teacher for 36 years in the Laurel County School System. She was listed in “Outstanding Personalities of the South” in 1967 and in “Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America” in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, General “Hawk” Hale; and two brothers, Edsel Hale and Max Hale. Survivors include a daughter, Anita Beryl Mullins and husband, Carson, London; a son, Michael Darrin Hale and wife, Lynn, London; two sisters, Lisle Hale, London, and Janice O’Neal, Zollo, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jerry Mullins and wife, Angie, James Mullins and wife, Constantine, and Dalton Hale, all of London; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Columbus Hensley and David Lawson officiating. Elma Lisle Hale, age 91 of London, passed away on Tuesday, April 5 at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly.

She leaves behind one sister, Janice Hale O’Neal of London; sisters-in-law, Lena and Sue Hale, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor & Allie Ledington Hale and three siblings, Edsel, Max and Ina Faye Hale.

She was a retired computer analyst with Greyhound International of Cleveland, Ohio, member of Central Baptist Church of Louisville, Kentucky Colonel, avid genealogist and a licensed pilot. She loved and adored her family and friends.

Funeral services for Elma Lisle Hale will be conducted on Thursday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.

A native of Laurel County, he was born Dec. 22, 1928. The son of Victor and Allie Ledington Hale,
he was a member of the Blackwater Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion and an
Air Force veteran. Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, Sue Cathers Hale; three children, Jennifer Renee and Margaret Allie Hale, and Harold Douglas Hale, all of London; three sistersn, Ina Faye Hale, Lule Hale and Janice O'Neal, all of London. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edsel Hale.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Friday, April 9, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel
with Bill Mays officiating.

Burial followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Blackwater.
