LOLA N. JAMES, age 99, of Marion, died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at home.

LOLA was born on July 2, 1909, in Jonesville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Nathan and Ollie (Hargraves) Combs. She married Archie V. James who preceded her in death in 1979.

She was a member of the Church of God. She was a homemaker and loved to cook, garden, raise flowers, watch wrestling and especially loved reading her Bible.

Survivors include sons, Jack Newman of Jonesville, Virginia, and Billy Gene Newman (Sally) of Kissimmee, Florida; daughter, Ada Dickson of Marion, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Gray Newman, grandson, Robert Gene Newman and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Noon Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.

Mr. Billy Gene Newman, 85, of Kissimmee. FL, passed away on Friday, November 9th, 2012 at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Billy was born in Jonesville, VA on February 14, 1927 to Oatie & Lola (Combs) Newman. He was a WWII US Army Veteran and a former car salesman. Prior to moving to Kissimmee, he was a former police officer with the Buchanan (MI) Police Department. Once in Kissimmee, he was a member of the Kissimmee Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was also an active member of the American Legion, Post #10 Survivors include his loving wife, Sally of Kissimmee; his sons: Larry S. Newman of Arcadia, FL & Bill S. Newman of Kissimmee, FL; a daughter, Cindy A. Newman of Kissimmee, FL; his brother, Jack Newman of Jonesville, VA and his sister, Ada Dickson of Marion, IN; along with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the artful care of Osceola Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34744.

Ada G. (Newman) Dickson, 83, Marion, died at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 20, 2013. She was born in Jonesville, Virginia to the late Oatie Newman and Lola Combs James. She married George H. Wilder in 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1976.

Survivors include his father Oatie Newman, Jonesville and his mother, Mrs. Lola James, Marion, Ind.; one daughter Carolyn Newman, Marion, Ind.; two brothers, Bill Newman, Florida, and Jack Newman, Marion; one sister, Mrs. Ada Wilder, Marion
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 10, in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Wallace and the Rev. Boyd Godby officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home, Jonesville, in charge of arrangements.
