    Funeral services for Kathleen R. Gardiner Ridings, 85, Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, with entombment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She entered heavenly peace Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016.

    Kathleen was born April 17, 1930, in Manchester, England. Upon meeting and marrying the love of her life she settled in Louisville. In 1953 the family moved to Utica where she resided for more than 60 years.

    She was employed with Glenmore Distilleries, Louisville, as Assistant Vice-President, and served the town of Utica as Clerk-Treasurer for several years.

    The joys of her life were gardening, spending winters in Gulf Shores, Ala., with Bob, hosting family holiday events, and numerous swim parties for the grandchildren.
    Her passion was Ball Room Dancing. She shares the story of learning to ball room dance while sequestered in the air raid shelter during the bombings of England. To pass the time the older children taught the younger children to dance. A passion for music and dance that never left.

    She is survived by a son, Taylor Ridings and his wife, Sharon; daughter, Lynn R. Vaught; daughter-in-law, Donna Ridings; grandchildren, Corey Ridings and his wife, Amber, Brian Ridings, Jenna Vaught, Sara Vaught and Emily Vaught; great-granddaughter, Kyla Vaught-Shouse; sisters, Frances Birdwell, and Maureen Carl; and several nieces and nephews.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Alice Gardiner; sister, Patsy Chapman; husband of 56 years, Robert "Bob" Ridings; and son, Phillip Ridings.

    Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

    In lieu of flowers you may donate to your favorite charity or take a dance lesson in her memory.

    RIDINGS - Phillip L., 54, of Louisville, went to meet his Heavenly Father Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Baptist Hospital East after a courageous battle with cancer. Phillip Ridings was a proud employee of the Louisville Water Company for the past 26 ½ years. He was a Corvette enthusiast and re-builder of late model Corvettes. Phillip grew up in Utica, IN, and graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1969. He attended Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville Speed School. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was a beloved husband, son and brother. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Ridings. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna R. Ridings; his mother, Kathleen R. Ridings; his brother, Taylor Ridings (Sharon Ridings); his twin sister, Lynn Ridings Vaught; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. His family wishes to thank Dr. Grimaldi and all the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Consultants in Blood Disorders and Cancer (CBC), the wonderful nurses at Baptist East Hospital Oncology who cared for him in his final days as well as family, friends and neighbors who visited and kept him in their thoughts and prayers. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday and he will be laid to rest at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home's North Chapel, 2515 Veterans Pkwy., Jeffersonville, IN, In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
