JONESVILLE, Va. - Mollie N. Sewell, 97, was born on Nov. 2, 1908 and passed away on Saturday (March 4, 2006) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. She was a lifelong resident of Lee County and was a member of the Jonesville First Baptist Church in Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hagan Sewell; stepson, Hagan Sewell Jr.; stepdaughter, Jean Stovall; three brothers, Chris, Oatie and Barlow Newman; and one sister, Byrd.
She is survived by two sons, Cam Sewell and wife Rachel, Mount Carmel, and Pridemore Sewell, Jonesville; one daughter, Mary Emma Smith and husband Mick, Avon, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Laura Smith of Florida; one brother, Junior Newman, Jonesville; two sisters, Ruby Ely and Bonnie Hopkins, both of Jonesville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special granddaughters, Andrea and Angela Thomas; special friend, Euna.Rev. Trent Moody and Rev. Dempsey Mullins officiating.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Newman Family cemetery in Jonesville.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jonesville First Baptist Church.
