TODAY AT SANGER
Pilot Point, April 12, ----- William Isac coffman, 87, died Saturday at 8:15 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Oca Burns, Denton, route 1, after an illness of about a week. He recently suffered a broken hip received in a fall.

Funeral service were to be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Sanger Baptist Church, with the Beck Funeral Home in
Pilot Point in charge. the Rev. Clyde Beck of Sherman, Baptist Minister, was to conduct the services. Burial was to be in Belew Cemetery, with grandsons as pallbearers.

Born June 12, 1860, in Tennessee, he had lived in Texas 63 years. He was retired farmer, and lived in this
area most of his life. He and Miss Sara Kearley, who died in 1926, were married in Virginia. He was a Mason and a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors are three sons Jim Coffman of Garland, Curt Coffman of Grand Pass, Oregon, and Elza Coffman of
Grand Pass Oregon.; three daughters, Mrs. Will Flake of Caddo, Okla., and Mrs. Myrtle Scroggins of Vernon, and Mrs. Oca Burns of Denton, Route 2; and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Kearley of Denison.

NOTES: William was buried in Belew Cemetery between Aubrey and Pilot Point.

Edward (Ona's son--Cecil Ona was child of Elza Ervin) said surname was spelled Kaufman. William changed it when he moved to Sherman, Grayson Co., Tx. from Virginia 1885. It is now spelled Coffman.

BURIAL: Directions to Cemetery and graves
Take Highway 380 E to Highway 377 to Aubrey, Pilot Point Exit. Turn right onto it. Then go 8 miles North on
377 to Belew Rd. turn left (West) to Cemetery.
Belew Cemetery is located in North East Denton Co., Texas off Highway 377 between Aubrey and Pilot Point.
Go through front gate where Building and Entrance with Belew Cemetery Name on Wall. take the first paved
street to the left from entrance. About 1/2 to 3/4 down the street (about 100 yards from fence), there is a large Cedar tree. The graves are located to the left of the tree. In the front of the graves is the head stone for the Seitz Graves, Bonds Graves, and also a grave that looks like a storm cellar.
They are buried in a plot with the following graves:

Louisa Bird Coffman
July 5, 1926 - August 9, 2017

Graveside services for Louisa "Peggy" Bird Coffman will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, August 11, 2017 at Akers Cemetery.

Louisa passed away on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at the age of 91 at her home. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

Louisa was born July 5, 1926 in Mundhan, England to the late Herbert and Louisa (Warman) Bird.

During World War II, she met and married the late Andrew Benton Coffman at Seething Church in Seething, England on May 21, 1945.

Before coming to America, she gave birth to her first child Judith Coffman Norrell on April 13, 1946.

During a continued 9 month stay in England, after the birth of her daughter, she continued her career as a telephone operator with the Royal Telephone Company of England.

In January, 1947 she and her daughter left England on the USS Washington for her new life in America. After docking and processing in New York, she began the final trip to Grand Prairie, Texas by train and her final reunion with her husband and her new family.

After receiving her American Citizenship in 1952, her GED in 1962, in 1963 she began her career as a telephone operator with GTE/Verizon where she worked for 25 years, retiring in 1987. While working at GTE she made many life long friends

Louisa is survived by her daughter Judy Coffman Norrell, Son David Andrew Coffman, both of Sherman, Texas.

Gracie Faye Owens Nix, 94 of Justin passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at home.

She was born June 19, 1918 in Pilot Point, TX to Ocie and Lillian Maybell (Coffman) Burns. She was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel Church.

Mrs. Nix is survived by an extended family, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, sons in law and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Owens and Ray Nix, and daughters, Gloria Jean Neace and Carol Sue Estes.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.

Lena Ophelia Sons, 94, passed into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in Denton, Texas, surrounded by her family. The daughter of Osa and Maybelle (Coffman) Burns, Ophelia was born on January 22, 1927, in Pilot Point, Texas.
Ophelia was a graduate of Sanger High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanger. On September 3, 1945, she married Floyd Sons in Sanger, Texas, where they made their home and raised their family. Ophelia was an administrative assistant with Moore Business Forms for over 30 years.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Sanger.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents; three sisters, Jewel Lawson, Fay Owens, and Helen Allison; and two brothers, Fagan Burns and Vernie Burns. She is survived by two sons, Richard Lewis Sons and wife Susan of Sanger and Charles David Sons and wife Dana, also of Sanger. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Linda Ann Vandever, age 77, of Kaufman, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Linda was born April 6, 1944, in Wylie, Texas to Frank McWhorter and Rosie Coffman McWhorter.

She attended school in Wylie and enjoyed time with her family and friends. She worked at a Mom and Pop store for many years and then went on to work at Liberty ISD where she retired.

Linda is survived by her husband, Kenneth Vandever; children, Patricia Dillion and husband Keith Dillion, Angela Greenlee, Lisa Lunsford and husband Oran Lunsford, Jerry Herron; step daughter, Rebecca Rawls and husband Mitch Rawls; daughter in law, Sara Kin; brother, Jimmy McWhorter, 16 grandkids, 37 great grandkids, and 7 great greatgrandkids.

She was proceeded in Death by her parents, Frank and Rosie McWhorter; her granddaughter, Sabrina Lunsford; her Great granddaughter Alexus Harris; her brothers, Dennis, Robert, and Jerry McWhorter, and her loving son, Richard Herron.

Services for Linda will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Roselawn Funeral Home, beginning with a visitation at 12:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, and then the committal service will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

David Andrew Coffman, 71, of Sherman, passed away at his home in Sherman on December 25, 2021. He will be interred at Akers Cemetery at a later date.

David was born in Sherman, Texas on May 26, 1950, to Andrew Benton and Louisa "Peggy" Bird Coffman. He was baptized at Forest Avenue Baptist Church, attended Sherman schools and graduated from Sherman High School in 1968. David loved to play tennis and was on the tennis team for Sherman High. After graduation, he enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and received his bachelor's degree.

David worked for General Electric and TransAmerica in the Dallas area and returned to Sherman where he worked at Sears before his retirement.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bob Norrell. He is survived by his sister, Judy Coffman Norrell.
