Charles William Bates age 87 , Bristol, Tennessee died Saturday February 14, 2004 at NHC Johnson City.

He was born on August 16, 1916 in Sullivan County, Tennessee .

He was the son of the late William Thomas and Adelia Earl Ryden Bates. He was retired employee from United Telephone Company and a member of Volunteer Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by wife Vivian Brewer Bates.

Survivors include:

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday February 17, 2004 at 11 am at the Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating.
