    Kathie "Elaine" Bobbitt Cates, 69 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

    She was born on August 6th, 1942 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of Leta Opal Bates Bobbitt and the late Henry Wilson Bobbitt. She was a retired cook for the Pulaski County School System. Kathie loved flowers, reading, and gardening. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, where she served as the Sunday Class treasurer.

    Kathie was survived by her loving husband, Charles "Charlie" Cates, whom she married on October 17th, 1970 in Danville, Kentucky; her mother, Leta Opal Bates Bobbitt; three sons, Barry Gene (and Janice) Branscum of Somerset, Kentucky, Eric (and Angel) Cates of Milan, Tennessee, and Darren Cates of Memphis, Tennessee; three daughters, Kellie (and David) Baker of Somerset, Kentucky, Ginger (and Randy) Adams of Trenton, Tennessee, and Tracy Denton of Union City, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Kacie Marie Baker, Nathan Lee Baker, Justin Duncan, Thomas Adams, Nathaniel Adams, Savannah Williams, Elijah Cates, Jared Cates, and Jordan Cates; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Maze Bobbitt of Somerset, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Wilson Bobbitt; and one brother, Vernon Bobbitt.

    Visitations were held on Sunday, February 26th, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
