She loved quilting, making crafts and her cattle. She will be dearly missed by the ones that she has touched so deeply through out her life. Betty Ruth Tolliver Myers, 81, died Tuesday, August 2, at her Seymour home with her family by her side. Betty was born August 31, 1934, in Tazewell, TN, to Curtis and Alena Tolliver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Myers; her granddaughter, Lauren Olivia Myers; her mother, Alena England Tolliver; her father, Curt Tolliver; and her sisters, Lillie Mae England, Annie Lee Widner, Louise England, Maudie Cochrum; and brother, Matthew Newton Tolliver. Betty is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Rhonda Myers (Pawley's Island, SC); son, Roger Myers (Maryville, TN); and son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Rachel Myers (Knoxville, TN); grandchildren, Alex and Carson Myers (Pawley's Island, SC), Kate and Anne Claire Myers (Knoxville, TN); and sisters, Lucille Tregoning (Falling Waters, WV) and Susie Worsham (Knoxville, TN). Betty had lots of friends throughout the Seymour and Knoxville communities. Lucille Tregoning, age 79, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2017, in Hagerstown, Md.

Lucille was born on February 1, 1938 in Goins, TN (she was a twin).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Curtis Tolliver and Mafalda Alena Tolliver. She had six sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew Newton Tolliver; sisters, Lillie England, Annie Widner, Betty Myers, Louise England (her twin), and Maudie Cochrum. Lucille loved her siblings and parents more than can be explained.

Lucille is survived by her loving husband, Jim Tregoning. They were married over thirty years. They lived together in Falling Waters, WV. Over their lifetime together, they loved to travel to the beach, spend time with their family, and enjoy all that life had to offer. She also enjoyed spending the day with her dog Coco who brought much joy to both her and Jim. Jim was the most caring husband. When Lucille became ill, Jim took the best care of her. He did everything for her. She loved him very much and appreciated every little thing that he would do for her.

Lucille also raised her four daughters with much love and discipline. She always made sure her daughters were taken care of even if she had to do without. Even as her daughters became adults, she remained that loving, guiding influence that help direct them with their own lives. To her, family was very important and she was also there for each and every one of them. Lucille is survived by her daughters Sherry Long (husband Eddie Long), Connie King (husband - preceded in death Rick King), Tammy Scott (husband Jeff Scott), and Malisa Redmond (husband Andy Redmond). Lucille is also survived by her step children, Jimmy Tregoning, Vickie Miller, and Stacy … She was preceded in death by Ricky Tregoning and Mark Tregoning.

Lucille is survived by her wonderful grandchildren that absolutely meant the world to her. For years, Lucille always had a video camera on the ready to make sure she captured memories of them. She made sure they knew how special each and every one of them were to her.

Lucille has many nieces and nephews that she held dear to her. Not a day went by that she didn’t think of them fondly and enjoyed talking to them on the phone.

Lucille was a very outgoing person. She never met a stranger. She loved to tell jokes and reminisce about the past. She was also a very giving person. If she heard someone had a need, she was the first to try her best to help them out. Her two favorite charities were St. Jude’s and Wounded Warrior. She always felt you needed to give to those who needed it the most. She just loved life and people, but her first love was always God. She had the strongest faith and had no doubt about her life after this one.

The family wants to thank all those who loved this woman (and it was many). We want to give a special thanks to all her caregivers Dr. Waheed (Western Maryland and Meritus Hospitals). They did everything they could to help her during a very tough journey and we can never repay the love and care she received.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 10AM until 11AM with funeral services to follow at 11AM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Burial will follow in the Robertson Cemetery

NEW TAZEWELL -- A woman died in a fire in her home near New Tazewell early Monday morning after alerting her mother, who escaped.
The victim has been identified as Rita Widener Beeler, 48.
The South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire on Clouds Road near New Tazewell about 1:00 a.m.

Investigators say Beeler woke her mother, Anne Widner, told her the house was on fire and Widner was able to escape without serious injuries.

Beeler's mother was treated and released from a hospital. She's now being cared for by family members.

She was an employee of Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation, and a member of Elm Springs Baptist Church.
