Ella Mae Ridings Grimsley, age 81 of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at Britthaven of Somerset.

Born on April 1, 1928 in Pulaski County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late James E. and Patsy Elizabeth Bullock Ridings. She was a homemaker and member of the Ansel Baptist Church. Mrs. Grimsley loved flower gardening, sewing, her family and friends. She considered the staff of Britthaven of Somerset her second family. Mrs. Grimsley was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Grimsley is survived by three sons, Charles Robert (and Lana) Grimsley of Tateville, Ky., Gary Wayne (and Lynn) Grimsley of Somerset, and Bruce Allen Grimsley of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Patsy (and Stanley) Wesley of Somerset, Rita Faye (and Rick) Gilreath of St. Louis, Mo., and Shirley Ann (and David) Hughes of Bronston, Ky.; four sisters, Barbara Ann (and Dewey) Sneed of Bardstown, Ky., Joyce Dean Jones of Somerset, Helen Louise (and Dee) Haste of Bardstown, Ky., and Mary Katherine Britt of Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James E. and Patsy Elizabeth Bullock Ridings; husband, John William Grimsley, whom she married on April 20, 1944 in LaFayette, Ga.; two sons, Frankie Jackson Grimsley and John Dean Grimsley; a brother, James Edward Ridings; and two sisters, Betty Jean Cox and Peggy Jo Hughes

Visitation for Mrs. Grimsley will be Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Lin Wethington officiating. Burial will be in the Somerset Cemetery.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky. 42503.

Joyce D. Ridings Jones, age 79, of Somerset, departed this life on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Joyce was born on January 30, 1935, to the late James and Patsy Ridings.  Joyce married William Ray “Buddy” Jones on August 2, 1971. She loved working on their dairy farm.  She was a retired farmer and homemaker.  She loved her animals.  Joyce will be missed by so many that knew her.  She loved all of her CNA’s at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Joyce never met a stranger and had a way of making every one smile she came in contact with, no matter what kind of day they were having. 

 She is survived by her sons, Bobby Ray Ridings, of Boaz, Alabama, and Steven Ray Warren, of Springfield, Illinois; her daughter, Peggy Jo Warren, of Springfield, Illinois; two sisters, Barbara Sneed, of Bardstown and Helen (and Dee) Haste, of Bardstown; special nieces, Shirley (and David) Hughes and Rita (and Rick) Gilreath; a special nephew, Gary (and Lynn) Grimsley and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that will mourn her passing.

Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, William “Buddy” Jones, who passed away March 18, 1999; her sisters, Peggy Jo Hughes, Mary Katherine Brent, Ella Mae Grimsley, and Betty Jean Cox; her brother, James Edward Ridings; and a special niece, Patsy Wesley.

Visitation for Joyce will be on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 9:00am until 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel.  Interment will be in Somerset Cemetery.

Gary Wayne Cox, age 62 of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born on May 13, 1950 in Somerset, Ky. to the late Hayden Coy and Betty Ridings Cox. He had formerly worked as an officer for the Somerset Police Department. Mr. Cox had also worked as a corrections officer and probation and parole officer for the Chesapeake Department of Corrections for the State of Virginia. Mr. Cox was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing and helping others. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Cox of Somerset, Ky., whom he married on Sept. 21, 2003 in Burnside, Ky.; Julia R. Cox-Ward, the mother of his children; three sons, Kevin (and Amanda) Cox of Somerset, Ky., Michael E. (and Charla) Cox of Custer, Ky., and a step-son, Charlie H. Connie was born on April 24, 1951 in Somerset, KY to the late Hayden and Betty Ridings Cox. She was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Tammy Gibson (and Mike Cox) of Somerset, Beverly Lynn (and Daniel) Decker of Burnside, David Wayne Gibson of Somerset and Charles (and Amber) Gibson, Jr. of Somerset; nine grandchildren, Jessica Jasper, Matthew Jasper, Charles Jasper, Jennifer Mount, Corina Simpson, Derick Ruark, Betty Ruark, Sarah Gibson and Austin Fox; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Bud" Gibson, Sr., and he preceded her December 23, 2015; two brothers, Coy Lee Cox and Gary Wayne Cox; and a grandson, T.J. Jasper.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will follow on Friday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Zuhars and Bro. James "Doc" Upchurch officiating. Coy Lee Cox, 43, formerly of the Tateville community, Pulaski County, Ky., passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at his residence.

He was born in Somerset, Ky., on Jan. 1, 1964, to the late Hayden and Betty Ridings Cox. He was a member of Grave Hill Baptist Church for 40 years.

He is survived by a brother, Gary (and Pat) Cox, Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Connie (and Charles) Gibson, Somerset; four nephews, Michael (and Charlene) Cox, Custer, Ky., Keven Cox, David (and Deanna) Gibson, and Charles (and Amber) Gibson, Jr., all of Somerset; two nieces, Tammy (and Tommy) Jasper, Tateville, and Beverly (and Frank) Baker, Somerset; nine great-nephews, Matt Jasper, Tateville, Charles Jasper, Tateville, Charlie H. Interment will follow in Grave Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Mark Edward "Ed" Ridings, 44 years 9 months and 29 days of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, May 27th, 2020 at the Hospice Unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Ed was born in Somerset, Kentucky on Tuesday, July 29th, 1975, son of the late James Eddie and Aldie Marie Haste Ridings. He was a member of Eubank Baptist Church, and enjoyed fireworks, celebrating with family, camping and playing football.

Ed was survived by son, James Ridings of Cattlesburg, Kentucky, Emily Breana Sue Ridings of Cattlesburg, Kentucky; sister, Michelle Ridings of Somerset, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, James Eddie Ridings, who departed this life on October 26th, 2005 and Aldie Marie Ridings, who departed this life May 26th, 2017; grandparents, Betty Louise Haste, Vern Haste, James Ishmael Ridings, and Patsy Elizabeth Bullock; and special sissy, Monica Denise Haste.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31st, 2020 at the Sardis Christian Church Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.

The Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky was in charge of the arrangements for Ed.
