Helen W. Roberson on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, of Rockville, Maryland. Beloved wife of the late William W. Roberson; loving mother of Sharon (and Rob) Orndorff and Jerome “Jerry” Roberson; grandmother of Amy Orndorff (and Sham Rampersad) and William (and Emilee) Orndorff; great grandmother of Simon Rampersad; sister of Mary (and Tom) Wilson and Wayne Woodward; sister-in-law of Gay Roberson and John (and Rita) Roberson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will be receive friends at PUMPHREY’S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave. (Rt. 28, just off I-270 exit 6A), Rockville, MD on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Rockville United Methodist Church, 112 W. Montgomery Ave., Rockville, MD 20850 on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11 AM, followed by a graveside service and interment at Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, MD at 2:30 PM.

MITCHELL — Mabel Iris Neeley, 81, of Mitchell, formerly of Bedford, died at 11:40 p.m. on Monday at Mitchell Manor.

Born Jan. 18, 1927, in Jonesville, Va., she was the daughter of Claude and Maude (Woodward) Roop. She married Benjamin C. Neeley on Jan. 30, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2002.

She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Fortner and husband Danny, Diana Hall and husband Jon, and Kim Bertolino and husband Tom all of Bedford; three sons, Ben Neeley and wife Jane and Roger Dale Neeley and wife Rita, all of Bedford, and Wendell Merle Neeley of Mitchell; two brothers, John C. Roop of Schertz, Texas and Claude Roop of Mitchell; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Jeanette Bridwell; and a granddaughter, Kelli Denise Neeley.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
